Main Scriptures: Gen.1:23-28
More Scriptures: Gen.8;22, Jn.15:2, Mal.2:14
And every plant of the field before it was in the earth and every herb of the field before it grew, for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth and THERE WAS NOT A MAN TO TILL THE GROUND (Gen.2:5)
Let me remark here and now that if you don’t like the harvest you are getting from your wife and children, change the seed you are planting into their lives. This is because God is not mocked, whatever a man sows that is what he shall reap (Gal.6:7). So, what must I sow into the earth of my wife and children as a farmer? Firstly, you must sow the seed of love as listed in 1 Cor.13:4-8. In Gen.8:22, the Scripture says, as the earth remains, seed time and harvest shall not cease. Also, the Scripture tells us that whatever a man sows that is what he will reap. God did not make you empty. He also did not make you and I irresponsible husbands. As the head of your family, you are a free being, responsible for your actions and inactions. So, for you to be a responsible farmer, you must be careful the kind of seeds you sow. Secondly, you must cultivate your wife. To cultivate your wife means to grow and maintain the seeds that you have planted inside of her. The greatest mistake you would make as a husband is to leave the seeds that you have sown into the life of your wife unattended to. This explains why you hear husbands complain that their wives have changed. She has not changed. It is just that she has not been nurtured. Thirdly, you must prune the seeds you have planted inside of her. Pruning your wife means weeding out ungodly manifestations and attitudes from her life. And you can achieve this by engaging her in honest conversations, get her relevant literature that address the issues in contention or even sharing the messages of Jesus with her. Above all, engage the weapon of fasting and prayer. A wise farmer always visits his farmland to see how well his seeds are doing. He observes the crops carefully to be sure that nothing hinders it from producing its maximum output. When he discovers hindrances, which in all cases are weeds growing around the plants, he cuts them off and weeds the unwanted grasses. He also adds other incentives that would help the plant to bear much fruits. That is what you must do as the godly husband. In Jn.15:2, the Scripture says, every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away, and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Do you want your wife to bear better and godly fruits? Do you want her to be a wise, prudent and godly woman? Then you have a responsibility as her head and leader to act like a wise farmer would. It is a great privilege to be a husband. It is the best platform of leadership.
