COVENANT RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE GODLY HUSBANDMAN (2)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: John 10:1-end

More Scriptures: Matt.22:37, Heb.12:2, Rom.5:8

Yesterday, we considered the first and most important step to becoming a good and godly husband. And that is, you must be married to your wife legally both before God and man. Today, the second demand is taken from Jn.10:3. You must have A QUALITY RELATIONSHIP WITH THE PORTER, JESUS CHRIST who connects every husband to His sheep. As the head of your family and the spiritual leader in your home, you cannot love your wife and children as Jesus Christ has loved the world except you have a personal relationship with Him. This means, you must genuinely love Him with the whole of your heart, might, soul and spirit (Matt.22:37). No husband can love his wife as Jesus Christ loves the Church until he is in love with Him. Jesus Christ died for us while we were yet sinners. He did not consider our sinful nature; rather, He looked beyond it and loved us all the same.

A natural husband will struggle to be kind to his disrespectful and insubordinate wife or extend a hand of goodwill to her. A natural husband will struggle to carry the burden of his disloyal and rebellious children on his shoulders. But if he is in Jesus Christ, the grace to live above offences is released to him. Consider for a moment, how Jesus Christ lived with the twelve disciples. Also remember that He is the Bridegroom of the Church. He had in His fold stubborn Peter, doubting Thomas, thieving Judas, deceptive Matthew. Yet He coordinated His family fold so well that after He left, they stirred up a revival that has given birth to the unstoppable growth of Christianity. So, if He had a quality relationship with His disciples, despite all their weaknesses, you can also enjoy the same grace only when you are in Him and He is in you. The first step you must take to kick start this eternal relationship is to give your life to Him and accept Him as your Lord and Personal savior. Secondly, you must continue to give attention to what He says in His word, the Bible. As you tarry at the word of God, your life is transformed into the image of Jesus Christ. You begin to talk to your wife and children like He would, serve them like He would, protect them like He would, and inspire them as He would. Jesus Christ is your perfect example of how husbands are to behave.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, take me deeper into Your word.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to know You and the power of Your salvation.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, saturate my spirit, soul and body and thought with the love of Christ and help me reflect it to all.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am connected to Jesus Christ by new birth because He alone can help me become a good and godly husband to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
