Husband, have you ever been a source of hope and faith to your wife and children? Now let me share with you something very instructive about our position as the head of our families. On this particular day, my wife and I and the children left home very early, first to drop off the children in school and also drop me off at work. Unfortunately, there was a very terrible gridlock that made us to spend more time on the road than necessary. While in this state, my first child, who was in high school, was unhappy for the simple reason that she was going to be punished for coming to school late. I stepped in and assured her that she wasn’t going to be punished. I also asked her to trust God that she will be favoured. We got to the school late. Yes, late! When I returned home in the evening from work, my wife reported that our daughter was not punished. And my girl said, “Daddy’s prayer really worked”. This may look simple, but I can tell you that it has stirred faith and hope in my daughter and her siblings-confidence that they can trust God for themselves to escape the mess of life.
So, as the head of your family, you have a covenant with God, Who made you the head to GIVE LIFE AND HOPE AND FAITH TO YOUR SHEEP. In Jn.10:10, the Scripture has this to say, the thief comes but to steal, to kill and to destroy. I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly. Your presence in the lives of your wife and children must inspire hope, life and faith and not fear, intimidation and oppression. You are in their lives to add and not subtract. You are in their lives as a lifter and not to bring them down. Read this from Matt.5:13-14. You are the SALT of the earth. And you are also the LIGHT of the world. Salt preserves what is good, dying or about to die. And light gives direction and brightness in a dark environment. But for you to become salt and light to your flock, you must first savour the salt of Jesus Christ, and allow His light to shine in you. The more of His word and the power of His revelation that you allow into your spirit man, the greater the faith and hope you extend to your wife and children.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, help me to add flavor to my flock.
- Father, by the help of the Holy Spirit, let Your light shine through me to my flock.
- Father, by the blood of Jesus Christ, engrace me to be a lifter of my flock.
FAITH CONFESSION
My life shall be salt indeed and light indeed to my wife and children as a good and godly husband in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
