Main Scriptures: John 10:1-end
More Scriptures: Jn.10:12, Gen.14:16, 1Sam.30:18
Have you ever seen a general in the army? One unique character is his ability to lead his troops to war. He is never afraid. He doesn’t run away. He stands strong, not behind his men but in front of them. That is who you are as the head of your family. A good and godly husband DOES NOT RUN AWAY FROM THE BATTLES OF LIFE, RATHER HE STANDS STRONG TO DEFEND THE CAUSE OF HIS SHEEPFOLD. In Gen.14:16, the Scripture gives us an account of how Abraham, the husband of Sarah, confronted the enemy and recovered all that were taken. Also, in 1Sam.30:18, the word of God teaches us of how king David ran after the enemy and overtook them and recovered all that were stolen. You are the head of your family. Don’t run away from the attack of poverty, sickness, bitterness, unforgiveness, anger, malice, barrenness, depression, poor academic performance of your flock, ungodly relationships, untimely death and much more. They are the enemies of your sheepfold. Rise up and contend against them. In Jn.10:12, read what God’s word says. But he that is an hireling, and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and flees, and the wolf catches them and scatters the sheep.
A good and godly shepherd doesn’t run when the wolf shows up to attack his sheep. He fights every adversary against his flock until victory is won. Your wife and children would not honor and respect you beyond the challenges you have confronted, and victories won on their behalf. Your trophies are your victory parade as a husband. But for you to stand strong in the midst of the challenges of life, you would need faith in God and not in man, your education or experience. In Heb.11:2, the Scripture says that by faith, the elders obtain good report. Furthermore, you must be a word labourer. The word of God that you have found is what sets the arsenals for your victories. God’s word is like bullets in your machine guns. When you know what God has said concerning your wife and children, you will never take anything less than the best for their lives. Your headship is being contended by the enemy. Proactively deal with his antics and give rest to your wife and children.
