Praise God! We are on the last of our series today. I am confident that you have learnt one or two lessons. I also believe that the Person of the Holy Spirit has opened your eyes to new understanding of your role as a husband. Today, the last but not the least is that every husband is a RESTORER, RESTORING THE SANCTIITY AND UNITY OF THE SHEEPFOLD. Your assignment as a husband is both present and futuristic. God has empowered you to rescue your sheepfold from the winds and rains of separation and divorce, and to keep ensuring that your wife and children and your good self are united in spirit, soul and body. In verse 16 of Jn.10, the Scripture says I HAVE OTHER SHEEP THAT ARE NOT OF THIS SHEEP PEN. I MUST BRING THEM ALSO. THEY TOO WILL LISTEN TO MY VOICE, AND THERE SHALL BE ONE FLOCK AND ONE SHEPHERD.
As a shepherd and the head of your family, it is your primary and principal responsibility to ensure the compactness of your family. It doesn’t matter who wants your family to disintegrate. It may be from your wife, friends, parents, relations or even siblings, or even your pastor. If you agree that your sheepfold should not be scattered, nothing, not even the devil can decide otherwise. The decision as to the unity of your family is yours only. And God wants you to keep your sheep and sheepfold in perfect unity. It may be true that your wife or child may have absconded from home. They may have run away. Whatever may be the reason, you have the power to restore them back to the fold. It is not the time to play the blame game. It is time for you to take up the responsibility of bringing them back into the family fold. However, for you to do this effectively, you must first accept full responsibility for the lives of your wife and children and know that God will ask you about them (Gen.3:8-10). When you accept responsibility for their lives, only then can you exercise authority over them. Secondly, you must watch over them in intercession and supplication. You must continue to provide a shield around their destinies by praying advancement prayers for them. Thirdly, you must learn to live well with them as Jesus Christ would in speech and conduct. Be the Bible they have heard and watch them remain in your green pastures for life (Ps.23:1).
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, by the blood of Jesus Christ, deliver me from ungodly influences.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver my sheep from the voices of strangers.
- Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, keep my family in perfect peace.
FAITH CONFESSION
I accept full responsibility for the unity of my family fold as I continue to uphold my wife and children in prayers as a good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
