By the grace of God and the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, we shall be exploring the uncontestable power of love that God has commended you and I to demonstrate to our flock. I pray that the Holy Spirit will stir up a revival in your heart to love your wife and children as Christ has loved the Church. You must understand that there are two important platforms that Jesus has created for you and your wife and children. The platform He created for your flock is that of obedience and submission, and the one He made for you is to love them. Children you’re your parents in the Lord for this is right. Honour thy father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise (Eph.6:1-2). In Eph.5:24, the Scripture says, therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. And for you, God clearly states that you love your wife even as Christ has loved the church and gave himself for it. Now looking at these two clearly defined functions that God has provided, you will discover that it is your singular honour to love your wife and children.
So, the question you and I must ask ourselves as husbands are, first, what kind of love did God command me to extend to my wife? What are the attributes? How powerful is it? What picture of love is it? When God commands you to love your wife and children, He is not talking about earthly love or man-made love. He is talking about His kind of love, which is unconditional and sacrificial. The love is also so powerful that it can cover the multitude of sin and weakness of your flock. The love is so enduring that it is the only force that endures when every other thing fails. God is love personified. Love can turn a weak and irresponsible wife and children to people of dignity and honour. But let us highlight the attributes of this God-kind of love. Love suffers long. Love is kind. Love doesn’t envy. Love is not proud. Love does not behave unseemly. Love is not selfish. Love does not get easily provoked. Love doesn’t think evil. Love does not rejoice when the other fails. Love rejoices in truth and it is fair. Love bears all things. Love believes all things. Love hopes in all things. Love endures all things. Loves never fails (1Cor.13:1-8).
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, by Your Spirit, reveal to me the power and personality of the love of Christ.
- Father, by Your Spirit, take me deeper in love with You and cause me to reflect it to my flock.
- Father, by the blood of Jesus Christ, deliver me from every trap of hatred and bitterness towards my flock.
FAITH CONFESSION
The Spirit of love is spread abroad in my heart and I extend same to my wife and children because that is what makes me a good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.

The best love is the kind that awakens the soul; that makes us reach for more, that plants the fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds.
That’s what I have learned this morning from the “the husbandman post”. I wish everyone could read today’s post.
Thank you for the knowledge.
God bless you, sir.
