WHO PROVIDES LEADERSHIP AT HOME? (2)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Gen.26:1-3

More Scriptures: Gen.24:1, 1Sam.30:9-10, Gen.14:14-16

There are three families that I want you to consider as the husbandman for you to understand the premium God places on you as the head of your family. The first is the family of Abraham. The Bible says that Isaac referred to the God of Abraham. Why did Isaac call him so? He did because the husbandman, Abraham was in charge. He provided good and godly leadership to his wife and children and sheepfold. He trained men in his household-people he mentored. He worked so hard that he became so rich in cattle, menservants, and maidservant (Gen.13:2). Infact, he was blessed (Gen.24:1).

Isaac was another family. He was so much in charge that his children referred to him as the God of Isaac. Why? He mentored his family and took charge, securing their destinies against the time of famine (Gen.26:1-3). Jacob was another family. His children referred to the God of Jacob. Why? He did not only mentor his family, he also set them on a firm foundation. One of his sons, Joseph became a Prime Minister.

Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of a good and godly shepherd, provided exceptional godly leadership to the twelve disciples. He led them every step of the way. He was not the Christ by title or position but by function. He prayed for Peter’s mother, who was down with fever, and she was healed. He fed 3,000 and 5,000 helpless people at different times. He served the communion to His disciples and washed their feet. When there was a need to pay tax to the authorities in His time, the disciples looked up to Him. That is who you are.

Your wife and children should look up to you for solution and direction. You should be a mentor to them. I want you to be angry with the status quo. I want you to be uncomfortable with the position you find yourself. I want you to refuse to be at ease with the fact that you are dependent on your wife for your upkeep. God did not create you that way. He has better plans for you. You must get out right now and take your place in your family kingdom by functioning as a man, husband and father to your wife and children. When your flock and people look at you, they should aspire to want to be like you-one who is a provider, mentor and a person of godly authority and power.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, by Your Spirit, stir up the Spirit of work in my life and let it bless my family.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from half-truth.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, bless me after the order of the spiritual examples of husbands and fathers in Your word.

FAITH CONFESSION

I covenant with God and receive grace to provide purposeful leadership to my family because that is my heritage as a good and godly husband in Jesus name. Amen.
