OH, LORD LEAD AND CORRECT ME

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Ps.23:1-6

More Scriptures: Is.48:21, Ps.25:14, Jn.15:5

Many a time as the head of the family, we want God to lead us in the best way so that we can also lead our sheep. But we often time refuse to accept the fullness of His leadership. We resist His prompting because it may not be comfortable for us. And by this act of resistance, we lose the growth process that would make you and I become sons-godly men, husbands and fathers. This is why I want to share with you from the Scriptures the importance of allowing God to lead you.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still water. He restores my soul. He leads me in the path of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear not evil, for thou are with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. (Ps.23:1-4)

As the good shepherd who wants to be led by God, you must be ready for two things. The first is that God will direct you in your decisions by the power of His staff, which represents His word. So, the more you read His word and depend on the Person of the Holy Spirit to teach you all things, the more you know what He wants you to do as the godly man, husband and father to your wife and children and in every area of your life. The second is that you must be ready for His chastisement and correction by the rod of His word. This is the hardest part for the husbandman but the best way to develop into sonship. Just the same way you will chastise your sheep when they derail, so does God. Sometimes, you act in ways that do not befit your headship and you discover that you lose your peace of mind and focus. And in the quietness of your spirit-man, the Holy Spirit prompts you that you have taken the wrong steps or stepped out of line. The more you tried to justify your action, the more miserable you become.

So, as the wise husbandman, you don’t argue with God but ask for mercy and repent. That is how you retrace your steps from wrong and dangerous paths and fall in line to doing those things that please God. God loves you. God wants you to add value to your wife and children. God wants you to grow in wisdom (Gen.17:1). That is why He wants to lead and correct you.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, by Your Spirit, endue me with the spirit of humility to heed to Your chastisement.
  • Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, teach me the way to go in leading my wife and children.
  • Father, by Your Spirit, give me hearing ears and seeing eyes that I may know when You are correcting me.

FAITH CONFESSION

I surrender my will and emotion to the authority of God my Father and I accept His leading and correction because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
