WHATEVER YOU DO COUNTS

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Hebrews 9:24-28

More Scriptures: Gen.3:19, Ecc.3:20, 2Cor.5:10

Many husbands have become so careless with their lives and that of their family to the extent that they don’t care about the consequences of their actions or inactions. They sleep with their house maid and say it doesn’t matter. They overeat and yet say it doesn’t matter. They steal from their employers and say it doesn’t matter. They refuse to provide for their families and conclude that it doesn’t matter. They disobey God’s commandments regarding their roles to their wives and children and say it doesn’t matter. Some husbands even choose which of God’s instruction to obey in relation to how they relate with their wives and children and yet live as though it doesn’t matter. They live life as though there is no life after this life.

Now, let us hear what the Scriptures say in Heb.9:27. It says, and it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.  It is important for you to know that as the head of the family and the spiritual leader of your family, every of your action is important both to God and to your flock. It is not all things that seem expedient that is lawful. Your life matters to God and your wife and children. It is the combination of your good word and works that makes your wife and children to follow you because that is what counts before God and your family.

As the head of the family, are your actions pure and of good report? Can your actions be justified before God? Does your behavior measure up with God’s word? If what you do as the head of the family, first to your wife and children and the world is contrary to God’s commandments, it matters.

But how do I make my actions count righteously? You make your actions matter by walking in the fear of God. If you are God-conscious and know that you will be judged at the end of your journey on earth, you will be careful not to offend God by your ungodly actions towards your wife and children. The fear of God is a spirit according to Is.11:2. And if allow this Spirit to gain root in your life, you will weigh and consider everything you do or say to your wife and children. You don’t own your life nor your sheep. God does. He gave you a wife and children and He expects you to give account of what you did with them.

 SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, by Your Spirit, strengthen me to weigh my decisions and act on them based on Your word.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every careless lifestyle and action towards my wife and children
  • Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, deliver me from the power of pride and a haughty spirit.

 FAITH CONFESSION

I lay my life at the feet of Jesus and I am transformed by His word because I want to be the good and godly shepherd to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
