AUTHORITY AND POWER

Main Scriptures: Philippians 4:8

I have come to discover from Scriptures that the way out of anything that is wrong is to exercise authority and power, which comes from the Lord Jesus Christ. I also understand that all things are controlled by invincible forces because all physical manifestations be it drunkenness, adultery, fornication, stealing, fighting, murder, lying, stealing and a host of the deeds of the flesh that you see around you are influenced in the spirit realm. So, if as the husbandman who strives to become the godly man, husband and father but  finds himself in one or more of the vices earlier mentioned, you will need the empowerment of the Holy Ghost to overcome such yokes and act according to the will of God for you.

Now, there are various powers available for you as the head of the family. There is the POWER TO BECOME (Jn.1:12), there is the POWER TO GET WEALTH (Deut.8:18). There is also the POWER OF MY HAND (Gen.31:29). There is the POWER TO LAY DOWN (Jn.10:18). And there is the POWER TO TREAD UPON (Lk.10:19) and there is POWER OVER (Lk.9:1). There is also the POWER OF DEATH (Heb.2:14). As the head of the family, you need to operate in these dimensions of power to do the will of God for your life, your wife and children.

You require power to remain steadfast in doing what is right as the spiritual leader of your home. This is because according to Scriptures, you are wrestling not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and POWERS in high places (Eph.3:10, Eph.6:12).This means that there are invincible forces in high places that could push a husband to beat up his wife, sexually assault his child, murder his children for ritual, have sexual relationship with his house girl, have uncontrollable sexual appetite, consume alcohol and get drunk, become a pathological liar, and much more evils. You cannot live as a spiritual leader without being empowered by God. Without Him, you can do nothing about that habits and addictions that you are struggling with. God has the power to save and restore your dignity as the head of the family. You have struggled enough with attitudes and lifestyles that are affecting your relationship with your wife and children negatively. Why not run to God for authority and power. Interestingly, you need power to live right. But how do I contact authority and power from the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ? Firstly, by engaging, intensely, the help of the Holy Spirit through fervent prayers and fasting (Mk.9:29). One of the reasons why you must fast is to enable you access power from God. Secondly, you must learn to speak in tongue. That is speaking in the language of the Holy Spirit. If you think that the devil will watch you rule your family gloriously without trying to usurp your authority and power, then you are living in a fool’s paradise. Authority and power remain your key to living your glorious destiny as the godly man, husband and father.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, by Your Spirit, empower me to hold unto and do what is right at all time as the man, husband and father.
• Father, by Your Spirit, strengthen my inner man to refuse to do the wrong things to my wife, children and the society.
• Father, by Your Spirit and blood, I conquer the power of sin and foolishness in my life
