HIGHWAY FOR THE HUSBANDMAN

Spread the love

Main Scriptures:  Psalm 24:3-5

More Scriptures: Matt.5:8, Ps.15:4, 1Tim.2:8

As a husband and the leader in your home, God has designed for you a highway of glory, honour, blessings, riches, power and strength (Rev.5:12). It is the highway that brings peace and dignity to your heritage as the godly man, husband and father. It is the way that leads to a great life. You must understand that you are made in the image and likeness of God (Ps. 82:6, Jn.10:34). This ultimately empowers you to live the highway of life in all its majesty. This highway of life that God has prepared for you is far above principalities, powers, witches, rulers of the darkness, shame and reproach. It is the highway whose streets are paved with gold. That is God’s master plan for your life as the spiritual leader of your home.

However, it is not just any husband that qualifies to access this highway of life. The only set of husbands who will walk and drive on this highway are husbands who live in the fear of God and in righteousness. In Ps.24:3, the Scriptures asked a question, who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? Who shall stand in his holy place? And in verse 4, the answer came. God said it is he that has clean hands, a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. Unrighteousness and sin remain your greatest hindrance to this glorious highway of life. God Who made this highway is a holy God and He has commanded you to live a holy life. So, to live in sin and unrighteousness is to be sold out to the low- ways of life.

Sin displaces any husband from the highways of life. Sin is also a disconnector. It disconnects you from the glorious journey of life. Sin is a stainer. It stains your life so that you become unfit to drive into the highways of life that God has ordained for you. Sin is like a car driving on an airport runaway hoping to fly the same way as airplanes. So, it is with any husband who lives in unrighteousness. You cannot fly high. Therefore, righteous living is the gateway to a high-flying life. Moses, Abraham, Joseph, Isaac, Jacob, Noah, just to mention a few were examples of godly husbands who rode upon the high places of God by walking in righteousness. And God by His Spirit, has given you power to live in holiness. You have every reason to live the high life in Jesus Christ so that it can impact your wife, children and the market places of life for Jesus. You are made for the high life. Do not settle for less (Ps.24:5).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, by the blood of the Lamb Jesus, I disconnect from every sinful nature and reconnect to a righteous nature.
  • Father, in the name of Jesus, bring me to my highways of a glorious life.
  • Father, by Your Spirit, fill me with power to dominate and overcome the lust of the flesh, the pride of life and the lust of the eyes.

FAITH CONFESSION

I walk in holiness and righteousness because that is my gateway to the highways of life and my call as a good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
