To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heaven. A time to cast away stones and a time to gather stones together, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing (Ecc.3:1,5). One of the best gifts God has given to husbands is the gift of time and season- understanding when to move and when to stop. And when the leader understands the blessedness of time and season, he finds himself walking in the perfect will of God per time and in every area of life.
As the head of your family and the shepherd of your sheepfold, you must appreciate the gift of time and season. This year is the time for you to stop assaulting your wife and children and start to show them the love of God. This year is the time for you to stop that extra-marital affair with the strange woman and women and hold firmly to your wife, irrespective of her colour, age, physical statistics or experience. Now is the time and season when you must get involved in the lives of your children, by nurturing and admonishing them in the way of the Lord (Eph.6:4). As the head, you must come to that point where you must embrace what is right and refrain from what is wrong. A time to embrace and a time to refrain….(Ecc.3:5).
You cannot continue with the poor quality relationships you have with your wife and children. You don’t have to remain in malice or bitterness toward your wife and children. The time for you to serve your sheep in the way that will please Jesus Christ and bring glory to God is now. Remember that whatever you do to your wife and children, on the basis of God’s word, brimgs honour to God.
But you must show the willingness and commitment to work the talk. First, you must engage the ministry of the Person of the Holy Spirit to help you understand time and season. The Scripture says in John 16:13 that, howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you into all truth, for he shall not speak of himself, but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak and he will show you things to come(Jn.16:13). You must ask Him to convict you when you are wrong. And secondly, you must arise and fight against every force of hell that may want to hold you back from making the necessary changes. And as you do this, God will enter an irrevocable covenant blessing of service with you (Ex.23:25-26).
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, by Your Spirit, help me to know the times and seasons for each phase of my life.
- Father, by Your Spirit, empower me to walk in the reality of the time and season of my life.
- Father, by the blood of Jesus, deliver me from every form of spiritual deafness and blindness.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am a man who understands time and season and I act in that wise because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
