Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord (Col.3:16). As the prophet over your wife and children, the word of God remains the basis upon which you can succeed in your family kingdom. The word of God provides you with all the wisdom you need to make your headship count in the lives of your wife and children. Your friendship with the word of God is your security against slipping into carnality. The enemy wants to take you away from the Word. The enemy doesn’t want you to be richly filled with the word of God, so he tries to steal the knowledge of God from you. Just mention any area of your life where you think you are challenged. The answer is in the word of God.
But what is in the word of God? Hebrews chapter 4 and verse 12 provides you the answer. For the word of God is QUICK (alive) and POWERFUL, and SHARPER than any two-edged sword, PIERCING even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow and is a DISCERNER of the thoughts and intents of the heart. The word of God can activate and revive the romantic relationship you once had with your wife (Gen.26:8). The word has the power to break every ungodly habit in the lives of your wife and children. The Word of God can pierce through the hearts of your wife and children thereby convicting them of the wrongs they have committed against you. The word can empower you to know when your wife or children is in danger or when they have gone astray or about to. Infact, the word of God is described as medicine (Pro.4:20-22). It can cure any sickness in the lives of your wife and children whether it is spiritual, emotional, physical or mental.
As the head of your family, you can accomplish much more by the word of God. However, for you to enjoy the profiting of the word in your life and the lives of your wife and children, it (the word of God) must dwell richly in you. The more of the word of God that you have inside of you, the more impact you make in the lives of your wife and children. You must continue to dig deeper in search of greater truths about God’s will for your family kingdom. The second demand you must engage in is to pray the word into fulfillment. You must place a demand on heaven to establish what you have discovered concerning your wife and children from the word of God. And prayer is what gives expression to your desire (Lk.18:1). As you engage in these spiritual demands of word search, meditation, fasting and prayers, your triumph as a good and godly husband is established.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, by Your Spirit, empower me to engage the word in leading my wife and children.
- Father, by Your Spirit, baptize me with the spirit of revelation.
- Father, by the blood of Jesus Christ, deliver me from spiritual laziness.
FAITH CONFESSION
I tarry in the word of God to find out His will for my life and that of my wife and children because that is my heritage as a good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
