RETURN TO YOUR POSSESSION, TODAY

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Acts 15:15-16

More Scriptures: 2Chro.11:4, Lev.25:13, Eph.6:18

Yesterday is gone and today is a new day. Today, you can start loving your wife and children again. This is the advice to a husband reading today’s devotional. God, by His Spirit, is saying to you that it is better you start honouring your wife and children now than not doing it at all. I could hear a husband struggling with the thought of whether it is not too late to respect his wife or support his children or even become the godly husbandman. Hear this truth husbands. It is not too late. If you recall the story of the prodigal son, you will discover that he did not conclude that it was too late to return to his father’s house. Rather than accept defeat and remain in hopelessness, he rose up against his fears and returned to the warm embrace of his father.

Yes, it is true that you may have made mistakes in the past. It is could also be true that you may have treated your wife and children badly. You may have also cheated on your wife and deny your children your love and attention. You may have held bitterness against your wife without telling her. It does not matter how much your wife and children may have offended you or how far you may have gone as a prodigal husbandman, making you to withhold the goodwill that is due to your wife and children. You can start all over again to love them. As the head of the family, your wife and children are waiting for your warm embrace. They are thirsty for you to talk to and with them. Don’t let the devil hold you back to think that it is over between you and them. Do not allow the opinion of men and the world to influence your decision. You must allow God’s word to guide you.

In Lev.25:13, the Scriptures say, in the year of this jubilee ye shall RETURN EVERY MAN UNTO HIS POSSESSION. God’s word says return to your possession. Your wife and children are your godly possessions. They represent the totality of your existence as the spiritual head and leader of your family kingdom. Your wife bears your name and wears you as her crown while your children are the extension into your future. You can retrace your steps and start to do those things that please the Lord.  But what do I gain if return to my possession and I decide to start doing good works to my sheep rather than not doing it anything at all? You enjoy rest and peace of mind. In Ps.116:7, the Word of God says, return unto thy rest, O my soul, for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee. When you return to intercede for your wife and children, you will enjoy peace of mind because by your prayers the Holy Spirit will reshape their lives to align with the nature of Christ. Another thing you enjoy is a solid and an harmonious relationship with your wife and children (Ac.15:16).
