LEAD THEM IN WORSHIP

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Acts 18:8-10

More Scriptures: Jos.24:15, Ru.1:15, Gen.18:19

Prophecy: “The Spirit of God is speaking to a husband reading this devotional today. You are a pastor and it appears you are the only one following Jesus. Despite your position as the head of the family and a leader in church, your children have become unruly. And their attitude is affecting you negatively. Infact, you have given up hope over them and resigned to fate. The Holy Spirit is saying it is not over. You can be like Crispus, who brought his family on the same spiritual platform to believe God and walk in His status”. That is the word for you today.

And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man’s house, named Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue. And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house, and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized. (Acts 18:7-8). This husband made all the difference in the lives of his family. He and his household believed on the Lord Jesus Christ. The most important thing to note here is that they believed in the Lord. They did not believe in a man’s principles or doctrines, which are not as enduring as the word of God. This explains why the Scriptures say that there is no other foundation other than the foundation laid by Jesus Christ (1Cor.3:11).

As a minister of the gospel and head of the family, the reason your wife and children do not seem to follow your path is because you are making them to believe earthly principles rather than Godly instructions. I have come to discover that there are some earthly principles that make sense but lack godly truth. For instance, the world tells you to borrow to do business or meet a genuine need so long you repay the loan. This counsel appears sensible and harmless but it is in complete disobedience to the commandment of God when He said thou shall not borrow (Deut.15:6, Deut.28:12, Philp.4:19, Ps.23:1).

As the spiritual leader of your sheepfold, you must invest into your wife and children as much spiritual time as you invest in your assignment in your local church. Don’t just assume that your wife and children will turn out well and follow Jesus Christ and love Him with all their hearts, mind and souls and body, because you are a pastor or deacon or deaconess. You must make deliberate plans and take personal responsibility and device godly strategies to ensure that your wife and children believe the same Jesus Christ that you believe and more importantly, that they walk in His ways.

However, for you to be like the example in our main text today, who made his entire household to believe God, you must grow up from being just a provider to becoming a godly mentor to your wife and children. That is the way to go to be the light of Jesus Christ to your wife and children.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, by Your Spirit, empower me to be a good and godly influence on my wife and children
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with divine wisdom to lead my wife and children in righteousness.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, give my wife and children hearing ears and seeing eyes to obey godly instructions and help me not give up on them.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am a positive and godly influence on my family because that is what makes me a good and godly husbandman to my wife and children in Jesus name, Amen.
