THAT WAY MAY BE WRONG

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful, and the end of that mirth is heaviness (Pro.14:12).  As the head of the family, it is very important for you to understand that God has provided a way for you -the way to handle the affairs in your home, your relationship with your wife and children and the world around you. When you do not know the way to go in the governance of your family, you will experience hardness, uneasiness and pain. There are so many options and suggestions out there on how to run your home as the leader. Some of them may come from your parents, friends and colleagues and relations. Some may make sense while others may not. But what is important for you as the leader of your home is to compare the opinions with the standards set by God.

A lot of husbands have lost their wives and children, suffered divorces, separation, hatred and bitterness because of applying the wrong methods. You are the head of your home and the spiritual leader of your family. This puts on you the responsibility to continue to seek the ways of God. Your wife and children are growing beings, and at each stage of their growth they will manifest different character tendencies. So, if you don’t know how to handle them at each and every stage of their development, you will experience resistance from them. God’s way is the best way. His ways may not make a lot of worldly sense, but it is the surest way to keeping your wife and children and home in compact form. Let us list some of the ways that seem right but leads to death.

If as the head of the family, you decide to engage in internet pornography just to satisfy your sexual appetite, it will lead to death. If you choose to physically beat up your wife in order to reinforce your headship as her husband, it may look right but it will lead to death and destruction. Have you not heard of husbands who chose this path and ended up killing their wives? But how do I know the ways that are right from God’s perspective? You will know the way that is right from His word-the Bible. Everything that God wants you to do and every guide He has provided for you to help you lead your wife and children are written in His word -the Bible. If you don’t give attention to the word of God, you may walk in ignorance and lead your wife and children astray.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus Christ, deliver me from wrong influences.
• Father, by Your Spirit, make me teachable and give me a heart to be led by You.
• Father, empower me by Your Spirit to live my life according to Your will and purposes.

FAITH CONFESSION

I put my life into the hands of God for Him to lead me so that I can become a good and godly husband to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
