Main Scriptures: 1Corinthians 11:28
More Scriptures: Ps.34:2, Pro.18:1, Pro.16:18
Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. BUT LET A MAN EXAMINE HIMSELF, and so let him eat of that bread and drink of that cup (1Cor.11:28). As the head of the family, there is the need for you to constantly review your ways using the Word of God as the standard. Let me share with you something that happened just recently between my wife and I. I needed to communicate something to her. Yes, I did. However, I discovered the way I convey the point made her unhappy. Honestly, I meant well but I couldn’t tell where and when I got it wrong. But as I laid down on my bed that night and began to talk with my Teacher and Instructor, the Holy Spirit, He showed me what I did not do right. He also showed me how best to communicate my points with my wife. I can tell you that we both forgave ourselves instantly, which has been our practice since we got married over 17 years now.
One of the greatest secrets to becoming a better and improved husbandman is to self-appraise your life and actions in relation to your wife and children. As a husband, you must allow for room for improvement. Yes, you are good, but you can be better. There is always a better way to handle your relationship with your wife and children. There are better ways to handle your finances.
But what does it take for me to examine myself? It takes humility of heart. In Ps.34:2, the Scriptures say that the humble shall hear thereof and be glad (Ps.34:2). It is when you are humble that you will hear what the Spirit of God is saying about any situation you find yourself. One of the most powerful enemies you must fight as the godly husband is pride. Pride destroys. According to Pro.16:18, it says that pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall (Pro.16:18). The second thing that you must do to keep your life in check is to learn how to separate yourself from time to time from the hustle and bustle. There are times you need to lay your life before the Lord in moments of quietness. Ask yourself some hard questions. For example, you could ask yourself these questions among many others. Have I treated my wife and children with honour and respect? Have I shown enough maturity in handling the issues between my wife and children? Is my life and conduct well pleasing to God? Am I meeting the standards and measurements set out by God for me as the head of the family? Examine yourself daily, and you will end up better man, husband and father.

FAITH CONFESSION
I lay my life bare before Jesus Christ for His help because I long to be a good and godly husband to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
