THE CREATIVE POWER OF THE GODLY HUSBANDMAN (1)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Mk.6:30-40

More Scriptures: 1Sam.30:6, 1Pet.5:2, Is.55:3-5

So, the usual crowd was there as he stepped from the boat and he had pity on them because they were like sheep without a shepherd and he taught them many things they needed to know. Late in the afternoon his disciples came to him and said, “Tell the people to go away to the nearby villages and farms and buy themselves some food, for there is nothing to eat there in this desolate spot and it is getting late. But Jesus said,” You feed them”. “With what?” they asked. It would take a fortune to buy food for all this crowd!”

“How much food do we have? He asked. “Go and find out”. They came back to report that there were five loaves of bread and two fish. And Jesus told the crowd to sit down, and soon colourful groups of fifty or a hundred each were sitting on the ground on the green grass. He took the five loaves and two fish and looking up to heaven, gave thanks for the food. Breaking the loaves into pieces, he gave some of the bread and fish to each disciple to place before the people. And the crowd ate until they could hold no more. (Mk.6:32-40) TLB

Today’s text is quite long, but I chose to write down the entire verses because I want you follow the example of Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman. I want you to discover the power of the Holy Spirit that is inside you, capable of resolving every challenge between you and your sheep and with your sheepfold. I desire to bring to your knowledge the truth that God made you the head and has placed you as the good shepherd in your sheepfold so that you can influence them for God and good. I trust the Holy Spirit that as you meditate on the word of God on this subject, you will be challenged to be at the forefront of providing solutions to the challenges that may confront your wife and children.

Our main Scripture today tells us about a leader who was influential. It was about Jesus Christ and the challenge of feeding the large crowd that followed Him. Suffice to say, He was the Shepherd and He had sheep who followed Him the same way God has ordained you as the good shepherd with your wife and children following you. He found a solution to the hunger need of the people He led. And as a result, He commanded enormous influence over the sheep such that they did not want to leave His company. This is the nature you have as the godly husbandman. So, if you can solve problems, you will never lack influence in the lives of your wife and children. A time came when the people following Him were very tired and hungry. Everybody seemed not to know what to do. Even His disciples advised Him to send the followers away hungry. He refused to let them go hungry. He took the initiative to solve the problem-He fed them all. The same life that He lived while He walked on earth as a man, has been transferred into you through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ which is available to you and I through new birth- and salvation.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to take the initiative to always provide help to my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from fear, doubt and pride but fill me with the spirit of humility and courage to serve.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, pour upon me and fill my heart with the Spirit of wisdom and knowledge and a sound mind.

FAITH CONFESSION

I take the initiative to always provide help and support to my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus Name. Amen.
