YOUR RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (2)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 1Sam.30:1-18

More Scriptures: Gen.25:20-21, Deut.6:7, Col.3:19

Yesterday, we began by differentiating between rights and responsibility. We understand that as the head of the family, you have rights and responsibilities. And much as you demand from your wife and children your rights and privileges, you must not forget to do discharge your responsibilities to them. And above all, you are solely responsible for the sheepfold-family-God has committed into your care. So, you are responsible for the success or failure of your sheep and sheepfold. That’s the standard and all through Scriptures, God always holds the head responsible for what goes right or wrong (Gen.3:8-9, 1Sam.8:1-10, 1Sam.3:12-13, Acts 10:1-2).

Much as you deserve the rights to be respected and obeyed by your child or children, you have the ultimate responsibility to teach, train and mentor them. And thou shalt teach them diligently unto the children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up (Deut.6:7). God was speaking to the leaders in Israel the same way He is talking to you as the leader in your home. It is your ultimate responsibility to diligently talk, sit and walk with your children in the things that they should know about God and His principles (Eph.6:4). Husbands love your wives and be not bitter against them (Col.3:19). It is also your responsibility not to be bitter against your wife when she has offended you. You have the right to be angry with her behavior or conduct but you have a responsibility to stop your anger from leading you to become bitter towards her. And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife…………………..and Isaac entreated the Lord for his wife………..and Rebekah his wife conceived (Gen.25:20-21). It is your responsibility to pray for your wife and not against her. It is your responsibility to intercede for her wellbeing and not against her welfare. And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south and Ziklag and smitten, and burned it with fire……… And David’s wives were taken captives…….and David pursued and recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away and David rescued his two wives (1Sam.30:1, 5, 10, 18). There are Amalekites that want to steal your wife from you. I call them strange men. They use all kinds of tricks to win your wife to their side, both diabolic and otherwise. They push hard and take advantage of the problems you may be having with your wife by offering your wife a better life. They are your real enemies. They are the invaders. You have a responsibility to recover your wife just like David recovered his and restore her back to God’s original plan for your family. With these Scriptural truths, I am confident in God that you are now empowered to do what is necessary as the head to elicit what is duly yours as the good and godly husbandman.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, open my eyes to see the fullness of my inheritance as the godly man, husband and father.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be responsible as the godly man, husband and father.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach and help me to appreciate my rights given to me by my sheep.

FAITH CONFESSION

I know my rights and I take responsibility to do all that God commands me to do as the godly man, husband and father to my wife and children because that is what makes me the godly husbandman in Jesus Name. Amen.
