Main Scriptures: Pro.4:20-25
More Scriptures: Ps.51:10, 2Cor.7:1, Ps.19:14
The topic we are looking at today was derived from the LUNCH HOUR Bible study of the Mission. We hold this meeting the second and last Saturday of every month. The meeting has been of tremendous blessings to my life and the lives of other participants. During the study, we discovered that the worth of the godly husbandman is not his money, his fat bank account, nor his educational qualification. The godly husbandman’s greatest inheritance is the knowledge of God in him. Once you take away the knowledge of God from the godly husbandman, he loses the capacity to think and act in ways that please Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the godly shepherd.
Now, consider these questions. Why would a husband kill his wife? Why would a husband physically beat up his wife? Why would a husband, who once loved his wife suddenly make a U-turn and hate her? Why would a husband refuse to protect his wife or children? Why would a father refuse to take personal responsibility to nurture his children in the way of God and refuse to provide for his family? These and many more questions confront husbands daily, and going through various Scriptural references at the meeting, it was established that when the knowledge of God is taken away from a man, he begins to act in ways that do not fit his position as a husband. His conscience no longer convicts him. He sees wrong as right and justifies his actions. Therefore, you must jealously guard the knowledge of God in your life concerning Who He is, what He wants and how He expects you to relate with your wife and children.
But to fight and keep the knowledge of God in you, you must give attention to the word of God and allow it to gain access into your life. Satan is not interested in your wife or children as much as he is interested in stealing God’s knowledge resident inside of you. Satan knows that if he can steal from you the knowledge of God’s love, you will not find it difficult to hate your wife or wish your sheep bad will. In Prov.4:20-25, the Scripture says, my son attend to my WORDS, keep them in the midst of your heart…… Subsequently, the word of God advises you and I to guard our hearts with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life. As the spiritual head of your family and the leader of your home, you must appreciate that knowledge is power. You cannot act beyond what you know. And because your life does not operate in a vacuum, once the knowledge of God is taken, what fills your heart is the knowledge of the devil. And the devil’s knowledge is evil and ungodly. It makes you to do the unthinkable. Satan’s ultimate is to steal your sheepfold, destroy your relationship with your sheep and kill you. You must not give the devil a space. You must let the word of God rule over and have preeminence over your life.
