YOU MUST RISE ABOVE EXCUSES

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 1Thess.5:1-12

More Scriptures: 1Tim.4:10, 1Cor.15:10, 2Tim.2:6

“Excuses don’t make champions”. It is one of my best inspirational quotes. It was inspired in my spirit by the Holy Ghost few years ago. This quote has challenged me as the head of my family to be resulted-oriented. It has destroyed the capacity in me to make excuses. It has also helped me recognize where I have failed and be quick to accept my mistakes when my sheep points them out to me. I have learnt to take responsibility for what happens to my wife and children.  So, as you follow the teaching, I trust God that it will bless you, also.

As the head of your home, you must understand that excuses don’t make a champion. If you want to be the godly man, husband and father to your wife and children, you must rise above excuses. Don’t give excuses why you have extra-marital affairs with another woman. Don’t excuse and blame your wife and children for the present financial predicament you are in. Don’t excuse and blame your sheep for your inability to be responsible in your assignment in church or workplace. Don’t excuse why you are living in bitterness against your wife and children. You cannot continue to live in sin and hide under the cover of excuses. You cannot continue to explain why you cannot love your sheep or act like the good shepherd. You can never become a triumphant leader by piling up excuses. You are the leader in the family kingdom God has committed into your hands. He has designed you to be a champion, so He is not happy with you when you try to excuse your failure. You must rise above excuses and be determined to become the best man, husband and father your sheep would ever have.

But for you to become a champion, you need to commit to doing the following. Firstly, you must engage the force of prayer and fasting. This is important when you consider that the enemy against your heritage as a husband is not your wife or children but the devil. He doesn’t want you to achieve your full potential as a husband. That is exactly what he did to the first husband, Adam. For this kind goeth not forth except by prayer and fasting (Mk.9:29). Secondly, you must enter into a covenant with God, based on His word, to serve His interest in the lives of your wife and children. The word of God is your best platform to build the office of the husbandman. You must allow the Scriptures to guide your decisions and actions. You must mirror your life on the word of God. Thirdly, you must set goals- spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically- and pursue them faithfully and conscientiously. When you engage these steps, you will discover that you will always want to improve on yourself to become the good and godly man, husband and father. And your sheep will respect and honour you as their true leader and mentor indeed.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, destroy every foundation of excuses from my life.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be the good and godly husbandman to my sheep.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to be committed to my assignment as the godly husbandman.

 FAITH CONFESSION

I break down the walls of excuses and take full responsibility as the man, husband and father in my sheepfold because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus Name. Amen.
