YOUR SHEEP ARE CREATED GOOD (2)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures:  1Timothy 4:4-6

More Scriptures: Rom.12:2, 1Pt.2:5, 1Thess.4:3

Yesterday, our Teacher, the Person of the Holy Spirit, helped us, husbandmen, to appreciate the original intention of God when He created our sheep. The Word of God helped us to understand that your wife and children and my wife and children are good creatures; that they are fearfully and wonderfully made; that He made our sheep for our own good and to that extent you and I must not reject or abandon them. Rather, you and I must celebrate them so that they can appreciate in value and be useful for God and the sheepfold. So, if you do not see the goodness of God in your wife and children, know for surety that satan is the person behind it. Therefore, exercise your authority in Jesus Christ as the prophet, pastor and priest over your wife and children and recover all the goodness of God in them.

Today, let us look at how you and I can extract the goodness that God has put inside our sheep. The answer is found in verse 5 of 1Timothy chapter 4, which is our main text for today. It says, for it is sanctified by the WORD OF GOD and PRAYERS (1Tim.4:5).  From this Scripture, two things are needful. The first is that you use the Word of God to trigger the best out of your wife and children. The Word of God is the weapon you can use to redesign the lives of your wife and children and not the rudiments and principles of the world. The Bible says that, the Word of God is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path (Ps.119:105). You can light up the dark sides of your wife and children by the power in the word. You can teach and transform your wife and children by the Word of God.

As a shepherd, you must appreciate that the rudiments of the world cannot bring out the good in your sheep. Only by the power of the Word of God can you ring-fence your wife and children from the influence of this world- disobedient, unruly, disrespectful, rebellious and disloyal dispositions. God has given to you the template of how good your wife and children are, and it is in the Bible. You have the responsibility to search the Scriptures to find the plan so that you can run with it and ensure its reality in the lives of your wife and children.

The second is effectual, fervent prayers. I have remarked that whatever you don’t pray for, you are not qualified to access and receive (Matt.7:7). Your wife and children will not just turn out to be good and godly by chance. They must be greatly influenced by you through the weapon of tireless intercession for them. Read what the Bible says in this regard. My little children, of whom I travail (pray) in birth again UNTIL CHRIST BE FORMED IN YOU (Gal.4:19). As the head of the family and spiritual leader of your family fold, you must continue to travail in prayers for your wife and children until the nature and attitudes of Christ is formed in them. In 1Tim.4:6, God’s word says, if thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a GOOD MINISTER OF JESUS CHRIST, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained (1Tim.4:6). Get down to work!

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, by Your Spirit, renew my mind to always think good and not evil of my wife and children.
  • Father, by Your Spirit, impart me with the spirit of grace and supplication so that I can intercede for my wife and children tirelessly.
  • Father, by Your Spirit, open my eyes to discover from Your Word, Your good plans for my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I hold my wife and children in high esteem and in accordance with the mandate of my office as the good shepherd and I use the weapons of the Word of God and prayers to extract the good in them because that is what makes me remain the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
