I didn’t plan to write on this topic. But as I was searching the Scriptures, my eyes landed on Judges 16:1 and immediately the Person of the Holy Spirit inspired this topic in my heart. I believe that as you read, you will be blessed richly.
Then went Samson to Gaza and saw there a harlot and went in unto her (Jgs.16:1). Where you go and the kind of relationship you keep determine what you see and how you behave; and what you see influences the action you take. This is so important even as you start to lead your wife and children this new year, 2021. As the head of your family, you must be very mindful of the places you go. Most often than not, the husbandman falls into immorality because of the influence of the things he sees where he goes. Until Samson went to the wrong place, he didn’t have any encounter with the wrong people. Prior to when he went to Gaza, he had a wife. And for as long as he was with the wife, it was difficult for his enemies to overcome him. And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson’s wife, entice thy husband, that he may declare unto us the riddle…. (Jgs.15:15). You must be very vigilant and sober. Satan and his agents are daily waging war against you. They want to see that you fall. They do not want you to become a godly influence over your wife and children. They hate the fact that you are a type of christ unto your wife and children. So, they set landmines for you in your journey towards a glorious husbandhood. You must watch out.
But how do I stop my going to Gaza? Firstly, you resist your adversary steadfastly by using the word of God as your arsenal. The word of God tells us that we should resist the devil steadfastly. You must be in the offensive. Every time satan throws at you wrong option, give him the right options-declare what God says. On three occasion, Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of a good and godly husband, was provided the wrong options. In all of these, He resisted the devil. Secondly, you must be very vigilant by engaging the forces of the Spirit of God. Any husband who will matter on the earth shall of a necessity be alert and alive. There are so many things that are calling for your attention. A lot of the times, these options look innocent and harmless on the outside but full of thorns on the inside. You need the Person of the Holy Spirit to help you discern the wrong places (Jn.14:26). Your life is worth more than the pleasures of the moment. Make it count for God, your wife and children and humanity.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, by the Precious blood of Jesus Christ, deliver me from the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.
- Father, by Your Spirit, put in me a hatred for sin.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from unreasonable and ungodly relationships.
FAITH CONFESSION
I break away from the power of sin because Jesus has become my righteousness and I function as a good and godly husband to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
