STRENGTH IN UNITY

Did you know that you are stronger together with your wife than when you are alone? Did you also know that you can withstand and overcome the challenges of life if you are united with your wife? Jesus Christ expressed this great mystery and importance when He said, if the two of you shall agree as touching anything on earth and ask, it shall be done for them by my Father who is in heaven (Matt.18:19).  It is so good to walk as a team with your wife and there is so much that you can achieve together which is far greater than what you can if you stand alone. In Ecc.4, the Scriptures tells us the power of a united force. This is what God wants for you and your wife but that is not what satan wants. Satan wants to keep you divided and isolated so that he can make you vulnerable. But God has a better plan for you. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. Ps.133:1.

Husbands, did you know that it is a pleasant thing for you to dwell with your wife and children? Well, if you didn’t know, re-read the main text of our study today. Staying away from your wife and children is not the will of God for you as the head of your sheepfold. God wants you to live with your wife joyfully. He doesn’t want you to manage your wife and children and live in disunity with them. God desires a united family for you. Anything that wants to destroy the bond you have with your wife and children is of the devil. You must resist it steadfastly.

So, how do I achieve this unity of purpose with my sheep? Firstly, you must learn to dwell with your wife and children in pleasantness and not in bitterness. Bitterness is a seed owned and sown by the devil. He sows it into the lives of families to destroy the home. You can overcome bitterness by learning to forgive your wife and children when they offend you (Rom.12:21, Matt.6:12). And you can also do this when you continue to see your wife and children from the eyes of Jesus Christ. Don’t forget that Jesus Christ loved and died for us even while we were yet sinners. Secondly, you must daily renew your mind with the word of God. What this means is that on a daily basis you fill your mind with good thoughts about your wife and children. And you can achieve this when you remain focused on what God has said concerning them. In Matt.6:22, the Scripture says that if your eyes are single, then your whole body will be full of light. It is when you set your eyes on your sheep that you see something good about them. And as you strive to dwell together with them in unity, you create a stronger force against the wiles of satan. You also attract the blessings of God upon your family.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, by the blood of Jesus, destroy every force working against the unity of my family.
• Father, in the name of Jesus, destroy every invisible barrier in my family fold.
• Father, by the blood of Jesus, bind us together in the love of Christ.

I remain strong and committed to partner with my wife, faithfully and truthfully, because that is what makes overcomers partners in Jesus name. Amen.
