FREEDOM WITH LIMITS

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Judges 14:1-3

More Scriptures: Rom.14:12, 2Cor.5:14, Pro.3:34

And Samson went down to Timnath and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines. And he came up and told his father and his mother and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines, now therefore get her for me to wife. Then his father and his mother said unto him, is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren or among all my people that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, get her for me, for she pleaseth me well. (Judges 14:1-3)

Satan has deceived many husbands to think that they are free to do whatever they want without any restrain or restriction. Sadly, many husbands have fallen victim of this lie and consequently paid the price. This is why as the head of your family and the spiritual leader of your wife and children, you must exercise discretion in everything you do and everywhere you go.

Our main Scripture tells us about the husband called Samson. He was a shepherd of great destiny. He was ordained to deliver his people from their adversaries. He was so powerful that he felt nobody could talk to him. He also concluded that his freedom has not limits. And that led to the beginning of his downfall. As the head of your family, you are at liberty to do whatever you want to do and go to wherever you want to. But you must always have this at the back of your mind that you must set limits. God, who created you and made you the shepherd over your wife and children, had from the beginning given you and I an example. When He made the first husband, Adam, He gave him the freedom to do anything or go anywhere within the Garden of Eden. However, He gave him a limit. And the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat. But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it, for in the day that thou eatest thereof, thou shalt surely die (Gen.2:15-16)

But for you to understand that you are not a boss unto yourself and appreciate that you are accountable to God, you must take the following steps. Firstly, you must understand that you did not create yourself, God did (Gen.1:26). So, you owe Him the responsibility to please Him and do His will for your life, and the lives of your wife and children. Secondly, you must recognize that you are accountable to God, your wife and children. (Rom.14:12). Thirdly, you must walk in humility of heart because God hates pride (Pro.3:34).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the name of Jesus, break the power and spirit of pride in my life.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me a teachable spirit.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me hearing ears and seeing eyes.

FAITH CONFESSION

I walk within the safe zones of God’s word for my life because that is what makes the good and godly man, husband and father to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
