PREPARE YOUR WAYS BEFORE GOD

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: 2 Chro. 27:5-6

More Scriptures: 1Sam.2:9, Heb.11:6, 1Chro.20:19

I have come to discover that one of the ways to triumph as the husbandman is advance preparation-taking time out to set the stage with God-before engaging with man, including your wife and children. I have also realized that if you and I can learn to engage with our heavenly Father privately, we will win openly. It will be much easier for us to get our sheep to trust us, believe in our plans and vision and participate in our faith walk and progress. But if you want to rule in your sheepfold by the energy of the flesh, you will be frustrated, depressed and hopeless. And this is the reason why I encourage you to give attention to today’s teaching.

He fought also with the king of the Ammonites and prevailed against them. And the children of Ammon gave him the same year an hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measures of wheat, and ten thousand measure of barley. So much did the children of Ammon pay him, both the second year and the third. So, Jotham become nighty because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God. (2Chro.27:6). If you look at the results that Jotham got, they all became possible because he had prepared his way before God. And if you and I must lead our sheep without struggle and enjoy our relationship with them, we must learn to first talk to God and ask Him to lead the way. The Scripture tells us that by strength shall no man prevail (1Sam.2:9).  And did you know why you cannot reign and lead your wife and children by your strength? It is simply because you did not create them. God made them and He knows what is required to make them become all that you ever desire for them.

Now, what does it mean to prepare your ways before God? It simply means to commit your expectations about your wife and children to God. Perhaps, you have a wife who is stubborn, disrespectful, arrogant, unfriendly and disloyal. You do not need to expend your energy shouting, beating or deny her your goodwill in a bid to make her change her bad attitude. You will weary yourself. All you need to do is to sincerely and in love go to Your heavenly Father, who made her and lay before Him the positive attitudes that you want to see in her. Ask God to help her and give you wisdom on how to lead her. This preparation also applies to your children too.  But two things are needful for you to enjoy your preparation with God. First is that you must believe that He can (Heb.11:6). The second is that you must confess what you have believed and spoken to God about your sheep (Rom.10:10). The positive change you want to see in the lives of your wife and children are possible. Partner with God, who made them, and see the change you desire happen for them.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, pour upon me the spirit of grace and supplication on a daily basis.
  • Father, by Your Spirit, teach me how to pray my wife and children into Your nature.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, pour on me the spirit of faith and help me to believe in my heart and confess with my mouth Your nature for my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I prepare my ways of leading my wife and children before God, who made them, and He has helped me to enjoy my role as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
