DON’T BE BITTER AGAINST YOUR WIFE

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Colossians 3:19

More Scriptures: 1Pt.3:7-9, Rom.12:20-21, Eph.4:32

THERE IS A HUSBANDMAN READING THIS DEVOTIONAL RIGHT ABOUT NOW. YOUR WIFE AND CHILDREN HAD OFFENDED IN THE PAST. YOU HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN THE OFFENCE. AND ANYTIME YOU REMEMBER WHAT THEY DID TO YOU, BITTERNESS WELLS UP ON YOUR INSIDE AGAINST THEM. GOD IS SAYING TO YOU RIGHT NOW, DEAL WITH THE BITTERNESS. FORGIVE YOUR SHEEP OF THEIR OFFENCE AND REMEMBER THEM NO MORE.”

And whatever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him. Husbands, love your wives and be not bitter against them. (Col.3:17,19). The truth is that your wife and children will offend you. They will make mistakes and cross the line. They are not perfect just like you are not. God recognized this weakness in your sheep, so He gave you and I advance solution. God said, “be not bitter against them”.

But why is bitterness against your sheep so dangerous to your leadership as the godly husbandman? Firstly, bitterness is a satanic device. It is a tool satan uses to corrupt your glorious heritage as the godly husbandman. So, be careful! Secondly, bitterness reflects the character and person of the devil. And because you are made in the image and likeness of God, bitterness does not fit you. Thirdly, bitterness is a barrier. It hinders your prayer from being answered. Husbands deal with thy wife according to knowledge that YOUR PRAYER BE NOT HINDERED (1Pet.3:7). Satan knows that two are better than one. Satan knows that much is achieved when you and your wife are united in love and not bitterness. So, he throws at you the trap of bitterness in order to limit your development, growth and empowerment as the godly husbandman. Don’t fall for his trap.

As the head of the family, you are to set a good example for your family. And one of the examples God wants you to set for your family to follow is not bitterness but love. You must understand that the devil is your real enemy, so you must direct your anger and bitterness towards him and his activities and not your sheep. He is the person behind the misbehavior of your wife. He is working behind the scenes to destroy your relationship with your wife. To live in bitterness towards your wife is to live in sin. It also affects the quality of your spiritual life as the spiritual head of the family. No matter what your wife may have done to you and against you, it is in your power to forgive her and let go. It is possible for you to overcome the evil and the irresponsibility of your wife with good deeds. Rom.12:20-21 teaches us how to deal with those who may have offended us. And In verse 21 it says, do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. This means that evil can be overcome, but it can be outdone by goodness.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, overwhelm me with Your love and let it overshadow the faults of my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me a heart that will forgive and forget the offence of my sheep.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to overcome the errors of my sheep with Your goodness.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am overwhelmed by the love of God and it overflows and washes the offences of my wife and children because I am the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
