Yesterday, the Person of the Holy Spirit exposed to you and I that husbandhood is a rare privilege and that we must uphold it with dignity, respect and honour. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, that you will not lose your position as the husband of your wife to satan, sin and the world. I decree that whatever is working against your office as the husband to your wife be disappointed in Jesus name. And if you have lost anything in your office-husbandhood- I pray that the mercy of the Lord shall prevail, and you shall be restored in Jesus name. Amen.
Today, let us look at the second important word-responsibility. Now, what is responsibility? It is the fact of being accountable or blame for something. It also means being duty-bound to do something. You are the head of the family. You are also the leader in your sheepfold. You will be held accountable for your stewardship and rulership over your wife and children. If you succeed in leading them, God and the world will applaud you. And if your sheep and sheepfold fail, you will be blamed. As the husband and head of the family, the only way anyone can describe you is by the things that you commit yourself to do first to your wife and children and the world around you. There are so many things that God has ordained that you must do to your wife and children as their head. After God made the first family and handed it over to him his wife, He did not just allow him to roam the street without any form of commitment. God said to the leader, Adam, in verse 15 of Genesis chapter 2 to, “tend and dress”. What God did was to hand over responsibility to the man. So, God did not just give you a wife, He also commands you to be responsible for performing your covenant duty effectively and efficiently.
But why must I take up my responsibility as the head of the family? It helps you to mature in character and conduct. For instance, if you take up the responsibility to provide spiritual support for your wife and children, it accelerates your personal spiritual growth and development. What this means is that you will give more time to studying the Bible, to prayers and intercession and other spiritual exercises. As you explore the Word of God for the benefits of your wife and children, you will discover that you are indirectly building up your own spiritual life (Jude 1: 20-21). There are so many opportunities that you cannot handle as the head of the family if you have not demonstrated maturity-spiritually, mentally and physically. You are the head from where virtues flow to your wife and children (Ps.133:2). There is so much that God has empowered you to do, you must rise up and take up the responsibilities of doing them, joyfully and in faith.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, guide me to perform my responsibilities to my wife and children faithfully and joyfully.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every activity of hell making me to be irresponsible.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, restore the pride of my office and open my eyes to see the fullness of my responsibilities to my wife and children.
FAITH CONFESSION
I take personal responsibility for my wife and children as the word of God has commanded because I am the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
