SPIRITUALITY IS REWARDING

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be CARNALLY minded is death, but to be SPIRITUALLY minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So, then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. Rom.8:5-8.

This is the reading for today’s devotional. As the head of the family and the spiritual leader of your wife and children, it is very important for you to take your spiritual life very seriously. A lot of husbands are so carnally minded that they have lost grip of their family’s spiritual heritage. You must understand that your position as the head of the family has its origin in spirituality. God created that office. And because God is Spirit, then you and I must do His will in truth and in spirit. Unfortunately, carnality has taken over the lives of many husbandmen and destroyed their glorious destines. Carnality has led many husbands to compromise their stand on what is Godly and righteous. Carnality has made many husbandmen to break the protective hedge around their sheepfold. You must understand that your headship over your wife and children is to impart into their lives, spiritual seeds.

But what does it mean to be spiritual? It means to be ruled by the things of the Spirit, beginning and fundamentally with the word of God. As the shepherd and leader of the home, your decision and action towards your wife and children must be influenced and determined by the Bible. And as you act based on the word of God, your wife and children will know what you stand for on all issues. That is your pride as the head of the family. When you live a spiritual life, the end for you, your wife and children is life and peace. This means that you would have put your wife and children on good stead in their spirit, soul and body. With your spirituality, you can protect your wife and children from satanic attack, hence you do not end up as a widower or fatherless. I can tell how on several occasion my children and wife would have been molested by the devil if not for the grace of spirituality at work in me. Husbands, enough of carnality. Let’s be spiritual. It is the security that your wife and children need to live a triumphant life.

 SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me by Your Spirit, to live a spiritual life and be useful to my wife and children.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to appreciate the spiritual origin of my office as the head of the family.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the power of carnality.

 FAITH CONFESSION

I am committed to the spiritual demands of my office as the head of my home because that is what makes me the good and godly man, husband and father in Jesus name. Amen.
