Wisdom is the first capsule you require to build your capacity as the shepherd of God’s sheep in your custody. It is the principal thing because if you are filled with the wisdom of God, you will know what to do, what to say and how to respond to the challenges and issues of your headship. As the head of your family, wisdom helps you to conduct yourself with discretion. Some of fights and confrontations you are having with your wife and children and in other areas of your life can be traced to your lack of wisdom. If any man among you seem to be religious and bridleth not his tongue, but deceive his own heart, this man’s religion is vain (Jas.1:26). For instance, you would not physically or emotionally abuse your wife and children if you have the wisdom of God. The Bible says that only a fool uttereth all his heart (Pro.29:11). Wisdom will always tell you to exercise restrain rather than insult them. A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver (Pro.25:11). Do you why the wisdom of God at work in your life is the principal thing for you? It is because through wisdom you build your sheep and sheepfold in righteousness peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.
So, how will wisdom help me to be a much better and godly husbandman? In the area of finance, wisdom will help you. Financial management is one of the greatest challenges of the shepherd. Many shepherds spend all that God has blessed them by buying things they do not need and engage in frivolities. The other area that wisdom will help you is in the area of your relationship. If you are filled with wisdom, you will be very careful of the type of relationship you keep. A lot of husbandmen were not bad until they found themselves in the company of bad relationships. They were not wise to define the type of relationships they will entertain. Bad company corrupts good manners……(1Cor.15:33).
But what kind of wisdom does your inner man need to develop his capacity? The word of God has provided the answers. Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him show out of a good conversation his words……….But if you have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not…..But the wisdom that is from above…….(Jas.4:13,14,17a). It is the wisdom of God and not the wisdom that man or satan gives. And the wisdom from God is His instructions, guidance and direction which are contained in the Bible and as spoken by the Person of the Holy Spirit. And for you to receive this godly wisdom into your, you need to ask in prayers. You need to the Person of the Holy Spirit to impart you with the spirit of wisdom. The Bible says that if any man lacks wisdom, let him ask and God will give to such a one liberally (Jas.1:5).
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the name of Jesus, deliver me from foolishness.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with divine wisdom.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to act wisely in all that I do.
FAITH CONFESSION
I have the mind of Christ and I walk in divine wisdom even as I do what God says I should as the good and godly man, husband and father in Jesus name. Amen.
