When someone is unwell, he or she is advised to seek medical attention. While some of the treatment recommended by the Doctor may be drugs, others are capsules. So, by the help of the Holy Spirit, we shall be looking at a 30–day therapy for every husbandman. Just like what physical therapy does to the human body, I pray, in the name of Jesus that at the end of this 30-day exercise, you would have improved as the good and godly man, husband and father, thereby making your life pleasurable to your wife, children and the marketplace of life.
Let the therapy begin!
Capsule 1: GOD DEALS WITH THE HUSBANDMAN ON THE BASIS OF COMMANDS.
And the Lord God commanded the man, saying of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat (Gen.2:16).
When God made you the head of the family and put you in charge of your sheep and sheepfold, He gave set rules, instructions, and precepts. All of these are in the Bible. God did not provide these for fun but for you to obey. And the Lord God commanded the man…… As the head of the family, you don’t negotiate the commandments of God for your office as the godly man, husband and father. You simply do what is commanded whether you think it is convenient for you or not. You do now choose which of the commandments of God you want to obey and the ones you will not. For instance, God commands you to love your wife as Jesus Christ has loved the Church (Eph.5:25). It matters less if your wife is beautiful or ugly, educated or illiterate, tall or short, slim of fat, a slay queen or a bush woman, nice or disobedient, courteous or rude, God says love her.
God commands you to teach your children because you are their priest. Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it. And these words, which I command thee this day shall be in thine heart. And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and thou shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up (Deut.6:1, 6-7)
And ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath, but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Eph.6:4)
Don’t claim you love God when you are not willing to obey His commandments for you as the man, husband and father. Now, when you do what God commands you to do, you enjoy peace and joy. You also enjoy pure friendship with your wife and children. How good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity (Ps.133:1). You also enjoy victory because two are better and stronger than one (Matt.18:19, 1Pet.3:7).
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus and by Your Spirit, forgive me for selective obedience of Your Word.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to obey all Your commandments with joy and gladness.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me enjoy the rewards of my obedience to Your instructions.
FAITH CONFESSION
I submit myself to the Lordship of my Father in heaven, and I obey all His commandments with joy and gladness because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
