Let us take the fourteenth capsule.
Capsule 14: EVERY HUSBANDMAN IS CALLED UNTO FAITHFULNESS
Now, Moses kept the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. (Ex.3:1)
One of the fundamental requirements of every godly husbandman is faithfulness. As the shepherd over your wife, children and the sheepfold, God wants you to be faithful. God wants you to be faithful to Him; He wants you to be faithful to your wife and children; He wants you to be faithful in your relationship with other people; He wants you to be faithful in your finances and business; God wants you to be faithful in all things. That is what happened to the husbandman, Moses. His father-in-law handed him his sheep to tend. He did not run away with the flock. He did not abuse his privilege as a shepherd. Rather, he was faithful in his assignment. That is the attitude you must develop if you want to make positive impact in the lives of your wife and children and in the marketplace of life. God is faithful and you and I are made in His image and likeness (Gen.1:26-28).
As the godly husbandman, your wife and children are given to you by God. The position you occupy is also given to you by God. The opportunities you have are given to you by God. The finances and all other material blessings that you have, God gave them to you. You are accountable to God for all these blessings. God gave them to you in trust and so you have the responsibility to be faithful.
But how do I develop the capacity to be faithful as the godly husbandman? You must recognize that you own nothing but a manager of everything. No one receives anything except he be given by God….(Jn.3:27). This understanding destroys the entitlement mentality that makes you unfaithful. Secondly, you must develop an attitude of contentment. The word of God says, “be content with such things as you have……” (Heb.13:5). One of the reasons why you are unfaithful is because you are greedy-you are not content with what you have, and you are not patient for your time to come. Thirdly, you must pray for the empowerment of Holy Ghost to help you resist the temptation to be unfaithful both in small and big things. Your desire to be faithful in all things will be tested. Satan, sin and the world will tempt your faithfulness. You require the power of God to overcome.
And as you become faithful in all things, including those insignificant areas, God will increase your opportunities and responsibilities and you will become the godly husbandman indeed. He that is faithful in little is also faithful in much…..(Lk.16:10). You must make your light so shine before your wife, children and the marketplace of life. God is counting on your faithfulness. Your wife and children are also counting on your faithfulness. The marketplace of life is looking for faithful steward. Be one of the faithful shepherds!
