Let us take the fifteenth capsule.

Capsule 15: HUSBANDHOOD IS A CALL INTO PRIESTHOOD

Then the priest shall consider and behold, if the leprosy have covered all his flesh, he shall pronounce him clean that hath plaque, it is all turned white. (Lev.13:13)

Let me begin by saying that as the godly husbandman, you occupy three vital offices. And God wants you to operate in all of them in order to make the best out of your headship. You are a pastor (1Tim.3:3-7). You are the ordained teacher to your wife and children. You are a prophet. When the king took Abraham’s wife, God showed up and directed the king to return Sarah because her husband is a prophet. So, you can operate these offices at the same time or differently depending on the circumstance.

Now, what does a priest do? From the Scripture in Leviticus chapter 13 and verse 13, you can see what God has ordained you to do as the priest over your sheep-wife and children. A priest pronounces the counsel of God over his people. It says, “he shall pronounce him clean……” So, whatever the priest declares, God honours. That is your heritage in Christ. If you pronounce your wife blessed, she becomes blessed. If you pronounce your wife fruitful, she becomes fruitful. If you pronounce health and vitality to your children, they become healthy. Whatever you pronounce in the direction of your wife and children gets validated by God. This is why you must be very careful what you speak into the lives of your sheep.

But for you to be effectual in your priestly responsibility, you must recognize and accept that you are a priest. You are not a priest because your local church ordained you. You are a priest because of your position as the shepherd of your wife and children. You must also be conscious of your office as the priest. This will help you to exercise your priestly authority over your wife. You can stretch your hands over your wife and children and pronounce the blessings of the Lord upon them. You must also make your pronunciation in faith. You must believe that God will honour the words you speak in the direction of your sheep. Finally, you must make the pronouncement in love. You cannot walk in bitterness and unforgiveness toward your wife and children and expect God to honour you. The atmosphere of the love of God in your heart and in your sheepfold, attracts the presence and power of God.

If you don’t know what to say of the blessings of God to your wife and children, make these pronouncements from the book of Numbers chapter 6 and verse 22. And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying ……on this wise, ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, the Lord bless you, and keep you. The Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious unto you. The Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. (Num.6:22-26).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with Your love and forgive me for not speaking Your blessings to my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to pronounce Your blessing and promises to my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, honour Your word that I speak to my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I walk in the consciousness of my office as the priest and I speak the blessings of the Lord upon my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
