Let us take the twenty-first capsule.
Capsule 21: IT IS IN YOUR STILLNESS THAT YOU KNOW THE MATTERS OF LIFE
Then said she, sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall, for man will not be in rest until he have finished the thing this day. (Ruth 3:18).
The story of Ruth is an interesting one, and you and I as shepherds can learn lessons from it. Ruth had everything working for her. She got married and moved with her new family to a strange land. Unfortunately, she lost her husband, whom she loved. She had only her mother-in-law Naomi. Despite the loss, she decided to go with her mother-in-law to their home country. In the process of time God began to rework her life. God had positioned Boaz to be her husband. God wanted to connect her to the lineage of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. So, while all of these was going on and in the midst of uncertainties, the word of the Lord came through. ….”Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall (Ru.3:18a).
As the head of your family and the spiritual leader of your home, you cannot run away from challenges. They are part of your growth process as the godly man, husband and father. Infact, challenges are the ingredients that develop your capability and ability to help others. So, if you are pressed to the wall, confused or overwhelmed by the issues of life as the husbandman, then do what Ruth did. Be still! I mean, be still inside out, that is in your inner and outer man. The Scripture says that “be still and know that I am God….(Ps.46:10). I have come out of very difficult challenges in my life as the head of my family through this weapon of stillness. I have seen God come through for me as I remained still in my spirit and outwardly. This is why, you can hardly know if I am going through challenges. Someone once asked me if I ever I have any problem.
Thou shalt hear a voice behind you, saying this is the way to go… (Is.30:21). God wants to speak to you on what steps to take to get out of the problem. God wants to talk peace and hope to you. But you are too busy on your inside to hear Him. But how do I become still on the inside so that I can hear God’s voice? You have to trust God. The Bible says, “trust God will all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…(Pro.3:5-6). You must know that God loves you much that He cannot watch you fail as the godly man, husband and father. God has made all provisions for your victory and success available in Him and in His word. Just as our earthly fathers give us instruction and direction when we do not know what to do, so does God our Father. Be still! Fix your gaze on Him! Relax! Take a deep breath! He wants to speak to you now. Are you ready?
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for being restless in my spirit man and outwardly.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, flood my heart with Your peace.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to hear You when you speak.
FAITH CONFESSION
I overcome every spirit of anxiety and agitation and walk in the peace, confidence and assurance that God gives because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
