Capsule 23: ANYTIME YOU LOSE SPIRITUAL GRIP OF YOUR SHEEP, YOU LOSE PHYSICAL CONTROL OF THEIR LIVES

Nay, my sons, for it is no good report that I hear, ye make the Lord’s people to transgress (1Sam.2:24).

If any husbandman can take his rightful place in his sheepfold, everything will fall in their right place. If you and I can gain spiritual control of our sheep and sheepfold, we would have rightfully positioned ourselves to influence our sheep for God and for good. This is very important because of what is happening today, where the shepherd has abandoned or transferred his spiritual responsibilities to his sheep and world and yet expects to be command. That was the story of Eli. Although he was a priest, yet he did not have control over the lives of his children. He was unable to influence them for God and good.

Did you know that it is the spiritual that controls the physical? Did you also know that anyone who controls the spiritual, influences the physical? Why is this so important to you as the shepherd? It is so because your wife and children are principally spirit being. There is a spirit in them, and it is that spirit that influences their conduct, responses, and reactions to the issues of life. For there is a spirt in man…..(Job 32:8). And so, if you want to lead them in the way of the Lord, you need to take control of their spirit. If you want to influence them to do what is good and godly in the light of the Bible, you need to control their spirit. Now, being in control of their spirit is not manipulation. It is simply empowering their inner man to align with the instructions of God, helping them to do what is righteous everywhere they find themselves. It is about empowering them to love Jesus and not to consent to evil.

But how do I take control of their inner man so that they can be empowered to love righteousness and hate sin and wickedness? How do I make them love the things of God and live a life well pleasing, holy and acceptable to God? Firstly, you must pray and continue to pray for them in your private moment. Men ought to always pray and not faint (Lk.18:1). I travail in labour until Christ be formed in thee (Gal.4:19). Secondly, don’t be a distant shepherd. Make yourself accessible to your sheep. When they need answers to the questions of life or clarification, be the first they will call. Thirdly, make your life a reading and living bible. Let your light so shine before men that they may see and glorify your Father, which is in heaven (Matt.5:16). Let your wife and children see the nature and character of God through you. Let your life reflect the goodness of Jesus Christ. Finally, resist the satan, sin and the world by the word of the Lord and by the blood of the Lamb (Rev.12:11).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, I thank You for giving me a wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with the spirit of grace and supplication to pray my sheep into and establish them in Your perfect will.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live by Your word for my sheep to see and follow.

FAITH CONFESSION

I travail in prayer and intercession for my wife and children until the nature and character of Jesus Christ is formed in them because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
