Main Scriptures: Rev.5:10-12
More Scriptures: 2Cor.5:17, Mk.9:23, Deut.7:17
Sometime in the month of March, 2018, I travelled to Lagos and chose to do that by road. On my way back from Lagos, we had a stopover in a place in Ondo state. While there, I saw a large billboard with this inscription, “Honourable Inside”. And immediately, my Teacher, the Person of the Holy Spirit began to teach me along this line, and that is what I want to share it with you. And our main Scripture aptly captures it.
And hast made us unto our God kings and priests, and we shall reign on the earth…….saying with a loud voice, worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength and honour and glory and blessing. (Rev.5:10.112)
There is honour in every husbandman. When God created the office of the husbandman, He did it so that you can live a honourable life to yourself, your wife and children and the world. So, being a shepherd to your wife and children is not a burden but a blessing. God did not ordain you to lead your wife and children to make you feel ashamed. God wants you to demonstrate His honour that you carry inside you to your sheep. In Rev.5, the word of God says that God has made you a “king and priest unto Himself so that you may reign in life” (Rev.5:10). Don’t let the present challenges you are having with your wife and children depress you or make you regret ever being a husband and a father.
But how do I access the honour that is attached to my person and office of the husbandman? The first action plan is to receive Jesus Christ into your life as your Lord and Personal Saviour. That is the starting point. If any man be in Christ, he is a new a creature…and all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ…. (2Cor.5:17-18). When Jesus Christ becomes your Lord, He reveals to you deep things that you need to know about your personality and responsibility. And because knowledge is influence, it means that the more you know Him, the better your outlook and confidence in leading your sheep. The second step is to believe that you are what He says you are. God cannot empower you beyond the level of trust you have placed on Him. If you believe what He says about you as a good shepherd and have the faith to walk in that light, then you can access the honour that comes from leading your wife and children. If you shalt say in thine heart, these nations are more than I, how can I dispossess them? (Deut 7:17). Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husband said, if thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believe…(Mk.9:23)
Therefore, the next time the unpleasant circumstances of life try to tell you that you are not fit and proper to lead your wife and children, refuse to accept the verdict. Fight for what is yours in Jesus Christ-honour, dignity and respect. Don’t settle for less. You are a type of Christ in your sheepfold. You have the mind of Christ. Exercise it fully to the glory and praise of Jesus Christ.
