Main Scriptures: Ps.47:1-2
More Scriptures: 2Tim.2:21, Pro.3:16, 2 Cor.3:1
O clap your hands, all ye people, shout unto God with the voice of triumph. For the Lord most high is terrible, he is a great King over all the earth. He shall subdue the people under us and the nations under our feet. He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved (Ps.47:1-4)
Few days ago, when I came back from work, my youngest daughter told me that she had a perfect score in her test. She scored 20 over 20. I was glad and I clapped for her. I wanted to appreciate her performance. This is what the Word of God wants you and I to do for our sheep. The above Scripture says, “clap your hands, all ye people”.There are many ways we can express our thankfulness to God. These include singing, worshipping God in songs and even in prayers, shouting, dancing and clapping. In whatever way you are led to show gratitude to God, it is always a sweet-smelling savour to Him and He accepts it. And any time we thank God by our practical actions, it reflects that we are not ungrateful or unmindful of those seemingly little or big things that He has done. This is the attitude that God wants you to cultivate towards your wife and children.
God wants you to applaud your wife and children for those little things that they have done. And one of the ways you can express your appreciation to your wife and children is by clapping for them. You must understand that your wife and children are responsive beings. They respond to every action that you show towards them whether now or in the future. So, if they do well, even if it is in the simplest of tasks, please call them and clap for them, and do it openly and proudly. Let them know that you are not unmindful of their little efforts. You must also understand that when you celebrate them openly, they are motivated and inspired to do better.
However, you must watch out for the lies of the devil. And that is to make you focus on the weaknesses and negative sides of your wife and children rather than their positive and strong sides. Satan wants you to focus your attention on the things that are wrong with your sheep rather than the things that are right with them. When you focus on their negatives rather than their positives, it would be very difficult for you to notice any positive improvements in their lives. You are most likely not to acknowledge the good works of your sheep. Your life and relationship with them will be full of complaints and murmuring. The word of God provides a cure to this satanic distraction that will hinder you from clapping for your sheep. The light of the body is the eye. If therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness, if therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness (Matt.6:22-23). Therefore, dwell on the good sides of your sheep and watch them grow to become good and godly sheep.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from focusing on the negative sides of my sheep.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be focused on the good and positive sides of my wife and children.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me bold to clap for my wife and children for their little successes and big ones.
FAITH CONFESSION
I have the mind of Christ and so I appreciate all that my wife and children do by clapping for them because that is the attitude and character of the good and godly husbandman in Jesus Name. Amen.
