Main Scriptures: Job 31:1-7
More Scriptures: Jas.1:7, Jer.11:12, Rom.12:21
One of my mentors in the Bible is Job. Each time I study his life and testimonies, I understand the power and blessings of being the good and godly husbandman. The story of Job is an interesting one. This is the husbandman who despite the odds against his life, health, family and finance stood for righteousness, and maintained his godly character. At a point during his challenging time, his wife advised him to abandon his faith in God but he refused. He was steadfast in God and held onto God’s promises for him and his household. Job said, I will wait on God until my change comes (Job 14:14)
That is what God expects from you. God does not desire you to be unstable in character- a husbandman who compromises his faith in God when it is obvious that he stands to gain much and under pressure. The Book of James said that an unstable man can never receive from the Lord (Jas.1:6-7). As a leader and the spiritual head of your family kingdom, you must understand that your life and conduct both in the secret and in the open must speak louder than your message. When you maintain consistency in godly character, you earn the trust of your wife and children and the people around and create goodwill. You must understand that God has made you a trans-generational agent of blessings (Gen.12:1-3). The life you live is for your wife and children today and the future. Don’t let the pressure and temporary benefits make you lose your good and godly character in Jesus Christ. God wants you to grow in godly character and remain strong in living His word, no matter the challenges. God wants your life to continue to bear good and godly fruits that your wife and children and the world will emulate.
But how do I maintain consistency in godly character to the extent that my wife and children and my close relations and those I relate with from time to time can vouch for my integrity? Firstly, you must be God-centered. This means that you must always have the word of God and His promises before you and be posterity conscious (Jer.1:11-12). Secondly, you must model your life after the image and likeness of God-desiring to want to please God, no matter what. Thirdly, you must model and anchor your life on the truth of what God says and not how you feel, bringing your emotion under control (Rom.12:21).
As the good and godly husbandman, it is your character that defines your person. And Godly character gives you the advantage as the good and godly man, husband and father. Standing on the promises of God and living a righteous life is what pleases God. Therefore, you must continue to strive for excellence by developing strong godly character in all that you do. You must work and walk in excellence in your family life, your relationship with people around you. You must maintain steadfastness in God and His word.

FAITH CONFESSION
I refuse to surrender to the dictates of satan, sin and the world but remain steadfast in trusting God and His word for my life and the lives of my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
