TAKING FULL RESPONSIBILITY, ACKNOWLEDGING YOUR FAILURE

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Gen.3:1-12

More Scriptures: Ps.51:10, Is.26:16, Is.53:5

Let’s begin today’s teaching by these two statements. The first is from Dr. John Maxwell. He said, “everything rises and falls on leadership”. The second is from me as inspired by the Person of the Holy Ghost. If your family fails, it is your fault; if your family succeeds, it is your gain.

And when the woman (wife) saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat and GAVE ALSO UNTO HER HUSBAND WITH HER and HE DID EAT. And their eyes of both of them were opened and they knew they were naked…. (Gen.3:6-7).

In Gen.3, the first husbandman was full of excuses when his family failed and that made God unhappy. In Gen.2:14-18, God specifically gave him the commandment not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. And right before his very eyes, his wife was tempted by satan. She ate the forbidden fruits and gave her husband who ate it also. Until Adam ate the fruit, himself and his wife, Eve, never knew they were naked. So, he was the determinant factor to their fall.  The husband unlocked the power that made them to know that they were naked. He should have accepted that he had failed when God came down in the cool of the day to fellowship with them. I believe that God would have had mercy, forgiven them and immediately restored the lost glory of their dominion. Instead, he said, the woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree and I did eat” (Gen.3:12).

As the good and godly husbandman, the biggest mistake you will ever make is to blame everybody or somebody but yourself for the failure of your sheepfold. You blame your pastors for where you are in life. You blame your parents for the back positions that you find yourself. You blame your wife for being responsible for the second woman or women in your life. Hear this truth and now. Excuses devalue any husbandman and erode the respect and honour that accompany the husbandhood. As the head of your family and the spiritual leader of your family kingdom, you must take full responsibility for your family and the lives of your wife and children whom God has committed into your hands. Shifting blame to anyone may look like the path of least resistance for you but it degrades your true worth as the godly man, husband and father. You are the head of your family. Your true value as the godly shepherd is your ability to absorb all the heat and failures from all sides and yet taking the challenges in good stride in keeping your sheep and sheepfold in one unit. Always remember that excuses make a man lame. Taking responsibility makes a man mature.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

•               Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the habit of blaming others for my failures.

•               Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with supernatural boldness to look inward and accept my mistakes.

•               Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to take full responsibility for my life and the lives of my wife and children and sheepfold.

FAITH CONFESSION

I take full responsibility for my life and the lives of my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly man, husband and father in Jesus name. Amen.
