WHAT I WILL DO TODAY (3)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Philippians 3:12-14

More Scriptures: Rom.12:21, Philp.4:8, Ps.23:1

As we conclude on the teaching on commitments, I want to encourage you to re-read this serial. If you can, write them down and put it where you can always see and read. I pray that the grace of God that makes for greatness shall be available to you and me to become all that God wants us to be as good and godly husbandmen. Amen.

You must be committed to be responsible with the financial blessing in your care. It is true that the finances you have is the result of the work you do. But you must remember that it is God who gave you the wisdom to know what to do and how to do it. He also gave you the power and capacity to make profit or gain from your endeavours. I am the Lord that giveth thee power to get wealth (Deut.8:18). And, “the silver is mine and the gold is mine (Hag.2:8)”. And, “the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof and the people that dwell in (Ps.24:1). And,“in every labour there is profit” (Pro.14:23). And, “And no one receives anything except it be given to him by God (Jn.3:27).

The finances God has blessed you with comes from and belongs to God. God gave you the capacity and the power to get wealth (Deut.8:18), so you have the responsibility to give account to Him on how you spent it. You must wake up every day with the commitment to plan your finances rather than waste it. Demonstrate to God who gave you the finances, that you are a faithful servant. However, you must fight the temptation to seek dangerous lifestyles that you had never thought of before the financial blessings. This includes drinking alcohol, adultery and buying things that you want rather than things that you need.

You must be committed and be determined to deepen and live out your faith in God (Col.2:6-7). No husbandman can ever make the most of his headship in his family fold without faith. Infact, everything that you do towards your wife and children must be done by faith. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Heb.11:1). So, act in faith as you lead your wife and children.

You must be committed to plan and model generosity (Pro.11:24-28). As the good shepherd, you must understand the importance of buying and giving gifts to your wife and children. You must also understand the place of giving to those around you that are in need. You must wake up each day looking for someone God wants to bless through you (Gen.12:2-3). You must plan to reach out to someone with your financial and material resources, beginning with your wife and children. Finally, you must seek to improve on what you do and what you know (1Pet.2:1-3). You are the fullness of what Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly shepherd represents. You must reflect His nature to your wife and children and the world.

FAITH CONFESSION

I have decided to make the right commitments today and each day of my life for my profiting and that of my wife and children and the marketplace of life because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
