Main Scriptures: Mark 7:32-35
More Scriptures: Lk.10:19, Heb.11:1, Matt.10:1
And they bring unto him one that was deaf and had an impediment in his speech and they beseech him to put his hands upon him. And he took him aside from the multitude and put his fingers into his ears and he spit and touched his tongue. And looking up to heaven, he sighed and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, be opened. And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed and he spake plain (Mk.7:32-35).
Looking at the Scripture in Mark chapter 7 and verses 32 to 35, you will notice that Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman was at the center of it all. The people brought to Him a man who had a lot of impediments. He was deaf and dumb. This was a challenge the people could not solve so they sought help from Jesus Christ. Jesus did not run away from the challenge. He confronted it head long and declared to the challenged man, “ephphatha” and the man began to speak and ear. Joy filled the hearts of the man and the people.
That is the kind of life God wants you to live. That is the level of power and authority that God has given to you to challenge every challenge that satan, sin and the world will throw at you. In Lk.10:19, the Scripture says, Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Lk.10:19). God has given to you authority and power to deal with pressure threatening to destroy your good relationship with your wife and children. You have the power to resolve the challenges between you and your wife and children. You have the power from God to become a channel through which God can heal your wife and children of any form of sickness and disease. There is no challenge, threat or pressure that you in that you cannot overcome.
But what does it take to operate at the level where you can declare, “ephphatha”? Firstly, you must have a personal relationship with and be devoted to the Person of Jesus Christ. This means you must be born again by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Personal Saviour. This is very important because all power belongs to Him. Secondly, you must walk in the Spirit as you give attention to the study and meditation of the word of God in the Bible. It is the Spirit of revelation that helps you to understand and apply the Scripture to the challenges you may be confronted with. And you engage the Spirit of revelation by praying and asking for it (Matt.7:7). Thirdly, you must have faith in and act on God and His word. (Heb.11:2).
As the good and godly husbandman, you are more than a title holder. You are more than a conqueror in Jesus Christ. You have power with God to become a healing vessel, a restorer of the bridge and a beacon of hope and laughter to your wife and children.
