WORK THE WORKS OF JESUS

I have come to discover that many husbandmen are living in regrets. They wished they could turn the hand of the clock and rework their lives as men, husbands and fathers. Many wished they had acted like the good and godly husbandmen to their wife and children and many more wished they had loved their sheep more, provided for them more, cared for and be kind to them more, inspire them more and be the godly example that God wanted them to be to their sheep.

This is why I want us to consider the Scripture in John chapter 9 and verses 4 and 5. I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day. The night cometh when no man can work (Jn.9:4-5). As the head of your family, you must understand that now is the time to conduct yourself as the good and godly husbandman to your wife and children. Do not think that you have all the time to misbehave, mistreat and be irresponsible. In Ecc.3 and verse 1, the word of God says, there is a time for everything….(Ecc.3:1). Now is the time for you to work the works of Him that sent you because if you do not do the works now, you may lose your wife and children and home to satan, sin and the world.

But what work must you do now while you have the opportunity to? The first is the work of righteousness. The word of God has this to say. It says, now is the appointed time, now is the day of salvation……(2Cor.6:2). In Rom.8:1, the Scripture says, there is therefore NOW no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit (Rom.8:1). You must be intentional to do all that God commands you to do, so that you can be conformed into the image and likeness of Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman. The second is the work of service to your wife and children. Jesus Christ gave a clear picture of that in Scripture. He says, “he that wants to be lead but first be a servant (Matt.20:26).”As the good and godly shepherd, you must understand that being the head of your family is to serve their interests-spiritual, emotional, mental, physical, material and financial. It is in your service to your sheep that you earn their respect, honour and loyalty. The third work is the work of interceding for them. As the spiritual head over your sheep and sheepfold, you have the God ordained responsibility to intercede for your wife and children. I called this intentional leadership. Read this. My little children of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you (Gal.4:19). Set out times and days when you pray for your wife and children focusing on those areas where you want to see them reflect the nature and likeness of God.

Today is the day. Make it count positively for God, your wife, children and the marketplace of life.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to work the good works of Scripture to my wife and children.

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from guilt, fear and condemnation.

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me to be urgent in serving my wife and children with Your love, unashamedly.

FAITH CONFESSION

I have been empowered by the Spirit of God to do all the works of Him who made me the head of my family because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman to my wife, children and the market place of life in Jesus name. Amen.
