LET’S LEARN OF HIM (3)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Matt.11:28-30

More Scriptures: Matt.6:12, Lk.7:48, Lk.22:35

Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light (Matt.11:28-20)

You can also learn mercy and forgiveness from Jesus Christ. I want you to understand that leadership comes with its challenges. As you lead your wife and children, you will sometimes be hurt and pained by their conduct and utterances. They will make mistakes. They may fail you. In all these circumstances, you must learn to forgive and forget. Jesus Christ while here on earth, was arrested, abused, mocked and beaten. As He was dragged to the place where He will be crucified, He maintained His right standing with God. And when He was finally hung and abused, He did not hold grudge against them neither did He condemn them. This is what He did. Father, forgive them for they know not what they are doing…..There was a time, a woman who committed adultery was brought to Him to judge. She was caught in the act of adultery. She deserved the judgement for the offence she committed. But when she came to Jesus Christ, He did something unusual. Rather than condemn the woman, He said, go, your sins have been forgiven….(Lk.7:48). In Matthew chapter 6, Jesus taught us how to pray. Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespassed against us………(Matt.6:12).

As the good and godly shepherd, you can learn to forgive your wife and children. You can choose to forget about their past failures, offence and errors. You do not have to be bitter against your wife and children. You do not have to plan to take revenge on them. You can show them mercy and compassion. You can learn to be compassionate. There was a time Jesus Christ visited a place. He did not like what He saw. The people did not have direction and vision. They seemed to be in trouble. Jesus saw their bad situation and had compassion on them. He did not rejoice in their bad situation. He felt their pain and went out to help them. Are you moved with compassion towards your wife and children? Do you feel their hurts, pains and fears? Are you determined to help your wife and children get out of that negative challenge?

As the good and godly husbandman, you must have a heart of flesh that cries when your sheep cries, sad when they are sad, and rejoice when they are happy. God wants you to be touched by the pains, discomfort, fear and burdens of your wife and children, the same way Jesus Christ is touched by our infirmities. It is wickedness to watch your wife and children suffer or be consumed by the challenges they are confronted with. The way Jesus Christ was moved with compassion and began to teach them is what God commands of you. Let the compassion you have for your wife and children motivate you to give your all-spirit, soul, body, prayers, time, finances, counselling and so much more- to help them.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for not following Your ways in leading my wife and children.

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, I ask of more of You and less of me, and teach me Your ways.

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from pride and empower me to practice Your ways as the godly man, husband and father.

FAITH CONFESSION

I give myself away so that I can learn the ways of Jesus Christ because that is what I need to lead my wife and children as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
