LET’S LEARN OF HIM (4)

Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light (Matt.11:28-20)

You can learn to comfort your sheep from Jesus Christ. A time came when Jesus’s ministry on earth was near completion. He informed His sheep. But the sheep became worried because they will not see the good and godly shepherd anymore. Jesus Christ did not leave them without hope. He gave them assurance and hope. I will send the Comforter, who will teach you all things… (Jn.14:26). They were going to miss His physical company, His teaching, counsel, motivation and much more of His goodness. He made a commitment not to leave them comfortless. And truly, after He had ascended to heaven, He sent the Person of the Holy Spirit.

As the good and godly husbandman, can your wife and children see hope of a better tomorrow through you? Can your wife and children find comfort in you and your words? As the good and godly shepherd to your wife and children, you are the shoulder they must lean on. You are the support that they need to walk through life and succeed. That is who you are.

You can also learn to pray for your wife and children from Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ met with Peter, one of His sheep and told him of the plans by satan to deceive and distract him. Peter was agitated and afraid. He loved Jesus Christ and did not want to make Him unhappy. Jesus said this to him. Satan has planned to sift you, but I have prayed for you(Lk.22:31).  This is why Apostle Paul exhort you and I to, travail on your knees until Christ is formed in you…..(Gal.4:19). You must continue to intercede for your wife and children. You must regularly uphold your sheep on your prayer altar so that the Spirit of God can impart His nature in them. You must remember that your wife and children need help in one or two areas of their lives. You must identify those aspects of their lives where Christ’s nature has not been formed and pray for them. One important virtue that you must learn as you pray for the nature of Christ to be formed in the lives of your wife and children is patience. You may not see the manifestation immediately, but you must never give up. Your words and heart must be filled with hope, faith and grace (Rom.10:10). The Bible says this. Pray without ceasing…… Don’t stop praying for your wife and children. Don’t stop interceding for them. Your wife and children remain God’s project in your care.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for not following Your ways in leading my wife and children.

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, I ask of more of You and less of me and teach me Your ways.

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from pride and empower me to practice Your ways as the godly man, husband and father.

FAITH CONFESSION

I give myself away so that I can learn the ways of Jesus Christ because that is what I need to lead my wife and children as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
