LET’S LEARN OF HIM (5)

Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light (Matt.11:28-20)

Praise God! Over the past few days, we have been trying to learn the ways of Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman. I am confident that you have made firm commitment to practice what you have learnt as you relate with your wife and children. You must understand that what gives value to your growth as the good and godly husbandman is practice. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearer only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word and not a doer…………(Jas.1:22-23). It is not enough to know the ways of Jesus Christ, it is much more important to do what you have learnt. That is the only way your life can be profitable to God, your wife, children and in the marketplace of life. You also need the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to do the will of God. It is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure (Philp.2:13). God wants you to do His perfect will as the good and godly man, husband and father. And He is ready to empower you, if you can ask Him.

But you require two attitudes that will help you to learn and practice the ways of Jesus Christ. The first is that you must have a personal relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ.  The Scripture says that you must be born again (Jn.3:3). In 2Cor.5:17, the Bible says that, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things have passed away and behold all things have become new (2Cor.5:17). The second attitude that you must have is a teachable and humble spirit. The word of God says that, the humble will God teach His ways. You must empty yourself at the feet of Jesus Christ. It is what He says that matters to you. You must come to Him with humility of heart to learn His ways. You will not learn and practice the ways of Jesus Christ if you are proud and arrogant.

God wants you to reflect His image and likeness to your wife, children and in the marketplace of life. God doesn’t want you to fail as the good and godly man, husband and father. He has a plan for your life. He knows the responsibility of leading your wife and children that He has committed to your hands. God has provided the perfect example in His Son, Jesus Christ. You have a choice to learn His ways and be like Him to your sheep and sheepfold and be blessed and honoured by God and your wife and children. You also have the choice to reject His ways and remain an irresponsible husbandman. The choice is yours.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for not following Your ways in leading my wife and children.

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, I ask of more of You and less of me and teach me Your ways.

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from pride and empower me to practice Your ways as the godly man, husband and father.

FAITH CONFESSION

I give myself away so that I can learn the ways of Jesus Christ because that is what I need to lead my wife and children as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
