GOD’S PRIORITY FOR YOU-HIS PRESENCE (1)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Gen.1:1-3

More Scriptures: Ps.16:11, Neh.8:10, Pro.23:26

Over the last couple of months, we have been teaching on how you and I can improve our relationship with our sheep-your wife and children and mine. By the grace of God, we have learnt how we can become all that God has designed us to be as godly men, husbands and fathers. I pray in the name of Jesus that we shall not fail God, our sheep and the world in Jesus name. Amen.

So, today and by the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, we shall begin a teaching series on God’s priority for you and I trust the Person of the Holy Spirit for revelation, empowerment and strength to make the most of your calling as the head of your family. Today, let us begin by asking this question. What is God’s priority for you? The first priority is His presence. God wants you to seek His presence, be in His presence and live in His presence. The first thing that God gave Adam, the husbandman, was His presence. Both Adam and God had fellowship together. They shared moments when they talked, laughed and reasoned together. According to the word of God, God came down in the cool of the day to meet with Adam. God wants a relationship with you first, before any other thing. He wants to have a conversation with you. He wants to share His thoughts with you. He loves to hear from you, your thoughts, expectations, fears, and desires. This is why the Scripture says of God to you, “my son, give me your heart” (Pro.23:26).

But what does the presence of God mean and why does God want you to desire His presence first and above anything else? The answers is found in Ps.16. Thou shalt show me the path of life, in thy presence is fullness of joy, at thy right hand there are pleasures forevermore (Ps.16:11). The presence of God means having very intimate relationship with God through Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman. That demands you knowing Jesus more, living for Him, developing your life and conduct to be like Jesus Christ in every way possible. When you have very deep relationship with God through Jesus Christ, you enjoy His leadership. God through the Person of the Holy Ghost, teaches you what to do to become the godly man, husband and father to your wife, children and demonstrate His nature in the market place of life. He shows how to conduct yourself in ways that pleases Him. He teaches you the truth that you should know about your position as the head of the family. Secondly, you enjoy inner joy. As the head of the family and the leader over your wife and children in your sheepfold, you need the joy of the Lord on your inside to lead. The joy of the Lord is my strength (Neh.8:10). It is the joy of the Lord that gives you the courage and strength to continue to lead your wife and children notwithstanding the challenges.

As the godly husbandman, you need His presence more than anything else. You must and continue to seek and maintain your relationship with God through Jesus Christ because that is what makes you the good and godly husbandman.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for not giving my relationship with You the first priority.

·        Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to seek You and continue to deepen my relationship with You.

FAITH CONFESSION

I give my relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ, the first priority in my life because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman to my wife, children and in the market place of life in Jesus name. Amen.
