SERVANT TO ALL

Scripture: 1Cor.9:18-20

Did you know the essence why God made you the head over your wife and children? This is why. I made myself servant to all…..(1Cor.9:18-20). It is to serve the interest of God in the lives of your wife and children. As the good and godly husbandman, God has called you to service. God made you the leader so that you can serve Him, your family and the world. Service to your wife and children is what gives your office honour and value. God entrusted your wife and children into your hands for you to keep and tend. And if you want to be respected by your wife and children, serve them truthfully, delightsomely and faithfully as unto God.

Jesus Christ, our Perfect example of how husbands should behave served His flock: He washed His disciples’ feet and died for the sins of the world (Jn.13:4-8). If you want to be the greatest and best shepherd to your wife and children, serve them with your time, your resources, your commitment, sacrifice, kindness and your love. In 1Thess.5:14, the Bible tells you how to serve. It says comfort them, support them and help them. You need to comfort your wife and children in their business, career, health and in any other area of life where they may be facing any form of challenge. Even at home, help your children to do their homework and assist your wife.

Now, what is the benefit of serving your wife and children? You gain more (1Cor.9:19). The more you serve, the greater your influence at home and in the lives of your wife and children. And above all, God will continue to honour you because you are doing His perfect will as the good and godly man, husband and father.

You must understand that serving your sheep is not transferable. It is a call to duty that you must take personally and responsibly. You are never wrong in service. That is your hallmark as the good and godly husbandman.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to become a servant indeed to my wife and children.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to serve the interest of humanity.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, enlarge the territory of my heart to continue to serve You and Your interest on the earth.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am ordained to serve God, His interests, and my wife and children because that is what enhances my position as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
