As the head of your family and the mentor to your wife, children and the world, you must continue to pursue a good name. That is what builds for you and your family goodwill before God and man. A good name speaks louder than your silver, gold, houses, bank balances, vacations, or nice and expensive dresses. You are the godly husbandman and you are ordained by God to live a godly life. This is the more reason you must fight every force that wants to make you compromise your godly values and standards.
The Scripture says, being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a MORE EXCELLENT NAME than they. (Heb.1:4).
Today, the Holy Spirit is telling every husbandman that your good name is better than silver and gold and more excellent than materials possessions. The days when you can do just anything as the head of the family and think it doesn’t matter is over. People are watching because your actions speak louder than your words. According to God’s word, your wife and children are bearing your name. For instance, my wife and children bear Igure, which is mine name. What this means is that anywhere their names are mentioned, they can be traced to me their father and husband, whether for good or for evil.
Abraham, the husband of Sarah had a more excellent name than his brethren. As the head of the family, let your actions be guided by the Word of God, knowing fully well that every action you take in leading your family adds up to either tarnish or build up the image of your family. As the good and godly husbandman you must make sure that you live a life of integrity within and without. According to Phil.4:8, your actions must be guided by the parameter of purity, good report and honesty. In your office, work towards a more excellent name. At home, work towards a more excellent name. In your relationship with your friends and other people, work towards a more excellent name. Jesus Christ, the Perfect example of the good and godly husbandman has a more excellent name. A time came in His life here on earth when He said they have found nothing in Him. And in Php.2:9, the Bible tells us that Jesus has a name that is above every other name.
God has called you to lead your family and wants you to live behind a good and godly name and legacy like Abraham. And I will bless them that bless thee and curse him that causeth thee, and in thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed (Gen.12:3).
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to desire a godly name for my family
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to leave behind inspiring legacies.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every root of defilement.
FAITH CONFESSION
I walk in righteousness and integrity of God’s word because that is my legacy as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
