And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept and he took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh instead thereof. And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman and brought her unto the man. And Adam (husband) called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living (Gen.2:21-22, Gen3:20).
Your wife becomes and responds to you what you say she is. Whatever name you call her that is what she becomes to you. The Bible says that,” and Adam called his wife Eve..”. What Adam called his wife was what she became. He called her Eve, she became the mother of all living things. In verse 23 of Genesis chapter 2, Adam called his wife the bone of his bone and the flesh of his flesh and she became a woman.
As the good and godly shepherd, you must understand that there is an irrevocable power in your tongue-the power of life and death. If you call your wife a devil, you will see the manifestation of the devil in her. If you call her an angel you will see the fruit of angelic behavior in her. If you say she is a dullard, she will turn into one to you. Your words are seed and every seed has the capacity to grow and bear fruits. God said let there be light and He saw light (Gen.1:2-3). He didn’t wait for light to come before He said it. You don’t have to wait to see a perfect wife just say what you want to see in your wife.
Do you want to see a wife that is submissive? Speak words that edify her person. Do you want to see a wife that will honour you? Speak honourable words to her. Your wife is a raw material that God gave to you. You have to nurture her into a finished good. No one else can do that for you except you. Don’t forget that as the good and godly shepherd, everything rises and falls on you.
I encourage you to redirect your talk to words of peace, honour, respect, grace and faith, and from curses to blessings so that you can enjoy peace in your family life and with your wife and children. Just change your language from negative to positive. Make your choice today because the power of life and earth lies in the bosom of your mouth and the things you say. You’re either justified or condemned by what you say. You must be saying something, be it good or bad. Choose to speak good words to your wife and children and see how your word will transform their lives for good and God.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower my tongue to speak right words to my wife and children.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, make the words of my mouth forceful in the lives of my wife and children.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from thinking and speaking ungodly utterances and negative confessions.
FAITH CONFESSION
I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that my wife and children are gifts from God and they are fearfully and wonderfully made. I speak words of grace and honour to them because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
