KEEP THY HEART WITH ALL WATCHFULNESS (2)

Spread the love

Scripture: Romance 12: 1-3

More scriptures: Deut.7:17, Rom.12:3, Pro.4:25

Yesterday, the Holy Spirit instructed every husbandman to set a watch over his mind because every action of man either for good or evil is first processed in the mind. As it is written in Scriptures, out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Lk.6:45). Whatever you speak or do to your wife and children is the result of the deposit of thoughts you have allowed into your mind and have allowed to gain root. Infact, we are what we think, and no husbandman can be greater than his thoughts.

The husbandman whose mind is filled with filth and ungodly thoughts will talk filthiness and act ungodly to his wife, children and in the market place of life. In the same vein, if the husbandman’s heart is filled with purity and godliness, he will speak pureness and act good and godly. A husband whose mind is filled with selfish tendencies will only think of himself. He does not care what happens to his wife, children and others.

But how do you starve wrong thought and grow good thought in your mind? You can do that by feeding your mind with the word of God on a regular basis. In Romance 12:2, the Bible says be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable perfect will of God”. Your transformation into the good and godly man, husband and father starts with the transformation of your mind. You will continue to do the wrong things to your wife and children, your bosses and employees and family members until you first change the kind of thoughts that you permit into and allow to gain root in your mind. What you feed your mind with is what you produce.

Every time you study your Bible, you allow the seeds of God’s word to shape your thoughts. And as you stay long at the study of the word of God, meditate on it, pray the words into your life and engage the power and the Person of the Holy Spirit, you become like Jesus Christ to your world (Jos.1:8, Jn.14:26, Lk.18:1). You will find your mind growing to love what God loves and to do what is right. God’s word is the cure to all form of ungodly character.

As the good and godly husbandman, do you want to bring forth words that bring peace to your family rather than destruction? Feed on God’s word. Do you want to reflect the glory of God for wife, children and others to see? Feed on God’s word. Make the study of God’s word a way of life. You must constantly engage the weapon of prayer and fasting to resist every ungodly thought that the enemy may throw at you. No seed has the capacity to produce fruits until it is planted under the right conditions and watered. So, it is with your thoughts. When you resist it, you are starving it to death. The Bible says, resist the devil and he shall flee from you. If you can win the battle in your heart, you have won it on the outside. Would you rather renew your mind?
